That's why I don't want it. The horizontal camera that stretches all the way across the back looks awful. I don't see what was wrong with the previous camera cutout that was nicely tucked away in the top corner. It looks much more attractive.
I highly recommend you get a phone case for the Pixel 6. Like most phones, without a cover it is as slippery as a fish.
Plus the Pixel 6 camera bar magically "disappears" when you put a case on it.
We got these made by CoverON on Amazon for $8.99, and they work great. The phone lays flat, the buttons work easily, and the phone is much easier to grip.

Camera is a beast, but can be almost over processed. Got it for the wife because of her jealousy of my P5.

Got my pixel set up. So far so good. Transition from my S10E was easy as hell.

The horizontal camera on the back looks terrible regardless what case you put on it. It badly still sticks out like a sore thumb. Thankfully, Samsung wisely got rid of that hideous horizontal camera on all the Galaxy models. Which is partially why I decided to pull the trigger on a sharp looking Galaxy S20. The back camera neatly tucked away in the top corner looks so much better in my view.
There's no way I'm not buying a case for my phone unless it's an old piece of junk like the last one I had. I just had a hard time finding one that didn't look so plain and boring. After spending quite a bit of time searching for a case that had a nice looking pattern that I liked, I settled on a Rhinoshield carbon fiber case. I can't help it. I like carbon fiber. I have dropped my phone a few times. No cracks yet. Although the protector on the screen is starting to peel off. I really, really hate curved glass.

All I care about is how well the phone works

I can certainly see why the horizontal camera bar is not for everybody, but I like it. It makes the phone stand out, and it sits evenly on a desk so it doesn't wobble if you type on it from a desk
My only concern for that is: scratches.
And I always get clear cases for my phones. They yellow after 6 months or so and I just replace them. I got the coral Pixel 6, no point in getting that if I don't get the clear case lol

Which clear case did you get? I also picked the Coral Pixel 6 (it's on a FedEx truck for delivery at the moment) and came to the same conclusion you did about needing a clear case, but the Spigen case I had my eyes on is out of stock everywhere.

I purchased a Spigen hybrid and like it alot. Ordered through their site and got a free charger.

I bought 2 cases that are arriving tomorrow. Will see which one I prefer. I have a feeling the clear one will be too bulky for my taste.
Update: After trying both cases, the greenish blue Caseology one actually feels bulkier than the clear case. I've never used a clear case before, but it looks and feels pretty good. I think I'll stick with it.

For the Pixel 6 or Pixel 6 Pro owners, in addition to a case (with raised edges above the screen edges & the camera bar), is that enough protection for you since this camera has the latest scratch resistant gorilla glass, or are you also planning to add the peel off Screen Protector & Camera Lens Protector for extra scratch resistance?
I have used the iLLumiShield brand and it did great and I actually bought the following at Amazon, but now I am torn if I should actually use this or not.
iLLumiShield Screen & Camera Bar Protector For Pixel 6:

Are any of you also using screen protectors in addition to a case?

I'm not. I didn't use a screen protector on my s10e, and I had that phone for somewhere around 3 or 4 years and never had a scratch or crack on the front.

I have one on the front and back. Unnoticeable on the back with the case on. The fingerprint sensor isn't as sensitive on the front with the protector, even with high sensitivity turned on.

Those clear ones are really good.

Fair enough. But I want style and functionality.

I would rather just buy a sharp looking case to make it stand out. Both Pixel variations come in rather uninspiring colors to me, so a clear case is definitely a no go. I bought a Spigen camera film for mine, so scratches won't be an issue.

Nah, just a former artist that likes most things bold and/or creative. Looks like Android Authority shares the same opinion.

Compared to smartphones, very little imagination goes into case making, and there’s a certain status quo that many brands seem to be content with. I’ve reached a point where I feel bad about spending close to a thousand dollars on an expensive phone (such as my newly acquired Pixel 6 Pro) only to carry it around in a case that shows none of its polished design elements.
Modern flagships deserve better cases made of more refined materials, with classier designs, and more color options. And that is even more true specifically for Android flagships because case options are remarkably more limited for them compared to their Apple counterparts.
Whenever Google, Samsung, Apple, or any other smartphone manufacturer makes a big show on stage about its latest flagship and the thousands of hours — and probably millions of dollars — that went into designing it and picking the best materials and colors to showcase it, I can’t help but wince, because I know the majority of those purchased phones will likely end up stuck in a generic clear or black blob.
