Just purchased a new phone and now I’m looking to protect my investment. Looking to hear what brands y’all recommend, models and what functionality you look into regarding making a decision on the case. That said, what y’all got??

What phone?

If you don't want to spend hours looking at reviews for the 1000 options on Amazon, just go with an otter box

What kind of phone?

If iPhone I would go with Otterbox Symmetry series. It provides protection and is not bulky like the traditional Otterbox. Just my two cents.

It does not provide any screen protection though if that's something you're looking for.

ETA: I see it's an iPhone. Here is the link

Otterbox

You can find them much cheaper on Amazon or Best Buy

Tech 21 cases

My daughter got me one of these for Christmas, and it's honestly the best phone case I've ever had. Sleek design, so it's not bulky, and I love the tacky finish on it so it doesn't slip out of my hands.

Not sure how well it protects the phone though.

I like Mous the cases have a magnet built in so you can get different mounting accessories

I have an OtterBox, Commuter series I think. Not bulky and still provides good protection. I've dropped my phone several times with no damage.

If available for your phone, I recommend the OtterBox Alpha glass screen protector.

Otterbox Commuter, period. Worked at a phone repair shop for a while. One of the best, if not the best, cases on the market. Soft inner liner keeps shock down and hard outer shell holds form when dropped not allowing anything to bend. Very best of both worlds. And the front lip comes out over the screen a good bit so it protects the screen very well without a screen protector which are next to useless on curved screens.

I really like spigen. Not as big and bulky as an otter box but it protects it just as well. Under 20$ on Amazon.

Another is the MBLAI.

Mine's been bomb proof and it's a lot thinner than an otter box..... no way I'd ever lug that thing around. Be careful my first case was also this style and it made the phone sound like talking in a box (on the other end) don't remember brand. On review it was a common complain so as always read up a little on any.

I really like Supcase alot.

Here's CNET testing various brands.
LINK

Supcase, Zizo, and Pelican survived the furthest into the test. I've been using the Supcase Unicorn Beetle since seeing this a couple years ago because it's half the price of the others.

And here's a video from the Supcase channel of them abusing a phone in one of their cases and it still working fine:
