Only the 8’s came out today, and the only real difference is the back is made of glass now

The 8 plus isn't that exciting, but it's a lot different for me (coming from 6P).
Size is actually similar. I'm not sure what it is, but the glass/display on iPhones has always impressed me vs. the Android phones I've owned, some of which had pretty good displays themselves. So that is nice.
I'm wireless charging right now - also nice. Setup was very easy, Apple is doing better these days in making downloading apps and changing settings less cumbersome, IMO.
Only complaint I have is that this phone is heavy as shite.

I can’t get all of my damn contacts to transfer over. Any help?

Did you back up your old phone, then restore the new one from that backup?

No I tried using the att mobile transfer app

From iPhone or Android?
The "Move to iOS" app worked great for me.

I have concerns that this thing will shatter when dropped a la iPhone 4

Just got everything up and running. Silver 8+. So much better than my 6+.

It will shatter, watch some of the drop tests already available on YouTube.
Surprisingly, the screen seems very durable from the videos I’ve seen. The back glass seems a little more susceptible to breaking, which is good in terms of repair costs I guess.

Posting this from my 8+. Switched from a Pixel and really liking it so far. Any minor gripes about the OS (notifications -- holy shite they are bad) are overshadowed by iMessage and that glorious taptic engine. It also plays really nicely with my iPad, so that's cool.

Yep, enjoying mine too. new iOS is definitely better in several ways. I'm not sure how Siri during the last couple of years, but I'm finding it as easy as Google for inputting complex addresses, text messages, etc. Definitely better than the last time I had an iPhone.
Love the watch too. It got mixed reviews based on LTE, but I've tried phone-free calls a a couple of times and it's been perfect so far.

Can one share what's it's like going from a 7 to a 8? Is it worth it? Notice any difference?

I have my 8-64 GB on order through work. Only 250 bucks so too good of a deal to pass up, my 6 is struggling.
I just don't need the edge to edge screen for 300 bucks, plus the screen is that much longer and it's a stretch to operate one handed.

Upgraded from the 6s to the 8+. Really liking it so far. Trying to get used to the weight but the size isn't as much of a problem as I thought it would be. Kind of wish I went with the plus last time around.
The camera is incredible.

My screen seems to have gotten some minor scratches pretty easy. I have a glass screen protector on the way.

went from a 6 to an 8+
main difference for me is the camera. Have two kids so wife and I take a lot of pictures and this blows away my 6 and her 6s.
