I need a new laptop desperately and these thing seems to good to be true.
It’s got a 599 and 699 edition the former is 13 inch screen and the latter a 13.9
599 has half the storare space and Ram (8GB) than the 699 which has 16
Like this seems absurdly cheap and all the reviews on Amazon are gushing 5 stars and recent
Am I missing something here?
Thanks for any advice yall can give
Amazon link is here

I'm not an Apple guy so they will have to chime in here, but 8GB RAM is low these days for PCs. 16 GB is the new standard.

Dell XPS 13. The Neo is old news.

What makes the Dell worth 799 over the 699 Neo version I would choose?
Thanks for your reply

The only thing you’re missing is that these mobile chips have a 64 bit memory interface. Making the somewhat modern LPDDR5x act like an LPDDR4 machine with a standard 128 bit bus.
This cuts RAM-CPU transfer in half for local AI, local search, multiple video encode/decode like viewing 10+ videos on one page, and an array of modern database tools.
If buying for the look and feel while needing to be in the MAC ecosystem, it’s a fair deal. If you want performance, then you can get a lot more for half the price with something like this LINK

Thank you for that in depth reply
I will look into those other options.

Ya just keep in mind there is nothing wrong with the Mac. Your question was just “What am I missing?” So that’s what you were missing.

If you are just web browsing and working in Microsoft products, the 8gb ram version would be fine but I would go for the 16gb to ensure adequate space. Also, only consider a Neo if you are an Apple fan or willing to switch. If you are use to Windows, go for the Dell XPS 13 like someone else suggested.

Wildcat lake is shite, it's slower than a Neo and doesn't offer the battery life. What an awful recommendation from you.

Exactly. That thing should be branded a pentium in 2026. They cut out 2/3 of the NPU. 1/2 the memory channels, 3/4 of the GPU and 1/2 the P cores and call it a core 7? Then they cut the L3 by 2/3 and eliminate the side cache so it has to pull from its crippled memory bus even more? I’d take the Mac any day.
Maybe “core” instead of “core ultra” is the new pentium branding. We’re even seeing core ultras with almost no GPU this year.

Which ones are those?
ETA: not trying to hijack but in the market so curious to know.

Thanks everyone for your help.
I ended up getting the 16 Neo off Amazon.
Was 699 but I had a prime coupon kick in and got it for 650 seems like a good deal to me and as a few people brought up it was a good choice as me and my wife both have iPhones and are in the apple ecosystem. Should be here tomorrow
