Looking For Some Sonos Advice

Currently looking for some objective opinions on sonos. Currently renting a place, so a wired solution wouldn't be ideal, but i like to think that I have an ear for decent audio equipment.
I can tell that sonos delivers on the tech front (integration, whole home, etc.) But does it deliver when it comes to sound quality.
Fyi, looking to start with a playbar and sub in our primary living area.

Absolutely.
Also.....Go ahead and get a play 1 for your bedroom too. You’re gonna end up doing it anyway.

It's decent sound quality. As long as you aren't doing critical listening it's a solid solution.

So I previously had a 500$ Pioneer Elite receiver and decent 5.1 audio setup (4 in ceiling speakers). It had decent sound but nothing earth shattering. I have 2 kids so I don't need my house to shake, I'm not a single 20 year old.
My receiver died and I eventually bought the Playbar and a Connect:AMP to power my 4 in ceiling speakers. It sounds just as good to me as my previous setup with a receiver as well as I and my wife and kids can EASILY play music through the whole den now and dance party their little hearts out.
If simplicity is your goal, go with Sonos, however, it's not cheap if you tackle it all at once. I haven't even purchased the Sonos:Sub yet because CAD says it really rumbles. For now, my setup produces a sound I and the wife (really important on the wife part) really like.
ETA: A downvote? Better bring a counter argument to the party.

doubledown you got a downvote for mentioning CAD in a positive light.

lol. I was wondering where that came from and instantly thought: WHAT THE... ?!?!.

I’ve been wondering why every time I post something positive about sonos I immediately get a downvote

its dumb. anyone who downvotes a very mature product like sonos is just trolling.
i bitch about sonos plenty, but you can't argue the sound quality is great and its beyond simple to setup and enjoy.
thats why just about every business you walk into has one.

Thanks everyone for the responses. I feel like I'm sold on trying sonos...Just waiting for the right time to buy/looking out for good deals.

craigslist. sonos rarely goes on sale. i was 5 minutes too late yesterday in picking up a playbar,1 and 3 for $500 total
be patient and setup an IFTTT to track keyword 'sonos' on craigslist so you'll get a heads-up before the unwashed masses.
before christmas there was an insane amount of cheap sonos ads on craigslist but things have dried up a little since.
i'm on the hunt for a 3 for django after letting one go locally that i had dibs on.

Yeah, I have an IFTTT applet setup for craigslist and eBay. Just hesitant to pull the trigger.

low risk imo. you can resell the damn things for what you paid for them (or more).

i love my sonos system.
I previous had a recv a onk 10 powered sub and some polk bookshelf for satelites. The total system may have cost me 600 dollars. The sound was decent enough, but we really only used it movie/tv.
With sonos playbar and sub, the ease of setup and streaming means we listen to WAY more music which I think is a positive and the sound from TV/movies is great imho. The wife loves it as well and uses it every morning while getting ready and getting the kids up.
The ONLY hesitation to have is if you are financially able to justify the purchase and that is a very personal matter that no one could answer but you

The sub makes a world of difference. Same can be said for any system I suppose, but I love how the bass doesn't seem to come from the sub and you can pretty much out it anywhere in the room.

I just came here to say buying Sonos devices is a no brainer and I’ve spoken highly about them for years, before they were popular on here.
