I'm so old school I've barely moved on from a 12" black & white manual channel selector tv.
My wife (no pics) on the other hand does three things each day. Work, watch television and sleep (no secs :( ).
We were in Sams recently and she was eyeballing a TV that had the best picture I've ever seen in my life. It was over a thousand bucks. I've done a little research and I think it's a Q LED tv. I know nothing about these.
What can the OT tell me about these tvs? Brand I might purchase? Price point? 50"? 70"?
Help!! I'm going to surprise her for Christmas.

ETA- *UPDATE* Went to Best Buy. Got a Vizeo 65" Q-LED (amazing picture), open box (virtually brand new/works perfect) for $380 (what a steal) and a Roku stick (the old TV was a Roku and she wanted to keep and use that account). Recently purchased a really nice sound bar and sub etc. Turns out this is a gift to us both......so still have to find something else BUT......think I may have gained some points and will get some secs after all.

You can get a TV she’ll be happy with at Sam’s for under $400. Just pick the picture you like best. The size depends on how big the room is, and how far away from the screen she usually sits.

It won’t matter to her what format it is. And I bet she won’t care about a bunch of bells and whistles.

OLED and QLED use different diode and display tech that allow for better contrast. It's LG and Samsung proprietary.

There are other good displays. It looks like Laser projector will be the next big thing.

Go to rtings.com for reviews and comparisons. Sometimes Sam’s uses slightly different model names to prevent price matching but you can Google to find the normal equivalent.

I got a 75” Samsung QLED recently. It was just over a thousand, I’m very happy with it.

65” is a good size depending on the room it’s in, my space could take up to an 80” so a 65 looked a little small in it.

We bought a 65" QLED last Christmas...a gift to ourselves.

It's awesome.

Buy it for her. The only problem will be she will notice that other tv pictures are way inferior.

QLed isa great way to go for cheap. But remember that most stores are using a image generator system that is very difficult to get from normal every day life cable or satellite systems.

I was at Sam's 10 years ago, looking for latest and greatest and settled on a twelve hundred dollar LG with 3D. Yeah, 3D was going to be the bomb!...NOT!

Fast forward to 2022 and it still looks great but the technology is so outdated, that I have to have a Roku device to be able to stream via the innerwebz.

I'm considering sabotaging it so I can find a cheaper one that I won't be outdated in a couple of years.

I don't see how a TV will improve her sandwich-making skills.

We have had a 75" Hisense (mid tier for them) for a couple of years and it looks better than my High dollar projector we use to run at 120" (wide, not screen size). You don't need to spend big money for a good picture. I would have probably gotten a Sony or Samsung however my non verbal 8 year old has a way of breaking things in the most unusual ways so some things we cheap out on these days. Even though I am very happy with the picture. Maybe side by side others look better but once calibrated this picture is damn good.

I didn’t know anything about TVs and almost got a 65” TCL for $400. Read up a little bit and instead decided on a 65” LG G1 OLED for $1400. I fricking love it.

It came with a recessed mount and it is about an inch wide and flat against the wall. Looks incredible.

We've recently replaced our 13 yr old Samsung (it finely broke) with another Samsung NEO QLED Quantum 32x.
It's amazing how picture quality has evolved with these new technologies. It's only been a short time but enjoying the QLED.

Exactly this. Also, the processor matters, big time. Cheaper TVs can’t handle a lot of things moving on screen at the same time or fast moving objects ( like a football flying through the air).

The Roku is better than the 2022 streaming technology on most TVs. I use a Roku to stream on my 2021 Samsung TV.
