So sick of their crap. They were charging me 70 a month for monitoring even out of contract. I owned my equipment. They then said when I cancelled that it would take 30 days to cancel and that I would be charged again.
Glad I purchased the Ring system and gonna do the 10 a month.
Great deal on Ring system

Ring is owned by Amazon and is accused of listening to your in house conversations thru echo without your knowledge or permission. Just sayin

Link? The reason I ask is because this week I saw an article with a sinister sounding headline similar to what you just stated the other day and when I actually read it the article was referring to Amazon recording all of the conversations you have after it hears the Alexa wake word. Duh, that's how it works.

Alexa “my password is.” Alexa “my atm PIN number is”

Meh. Smartphones and Facebook already do this.

Congrats...I shite canned adt 3 yes ago and went with Simplisafe and it is great. Some of my best decisions were cancelling ADT, ATT, and Cox Cable (still can't get away from Cox internet though)

This gets into a bit of semantics but Alexa, google home, smart TVs, etc. are ALWAYS listening and recording everything it hears. Their agreements clearly indicate this. It has to record what it hears to send it back to the corporate servers. Whether it is kept or archived it gets a bit tricky.
The customer only has access what the devices hears after "alexa" or whatever but the central cloud servers are keeping everything and customers don't have access to that. They use this data for voice command deciphering refinement and possibly more nefarious dealings. Amazon is a CIA contractor. No doubt they are doing shady shite with the data.

Brinks only works on white burglars anyway

I use the ring alarm as well. My only expense was the equipment. I already have cameras and pay the $100/year so adding the alarm monitoring was done at no extra ongoing cost for me. I think I paid $200 for the 10 piece kit at Costco. I've since purchased more sensors, another extender, & the yard sign. My total cost is less than a year of monitoring with my old company which wanted me to pay $36/month AFTERI bought their equipment.
I also use the Ring App to operate my Schlage locks. It's actually pretty slick b/c my locks can arm & disarm the Ring alarm.

quote:Well, you could do like OP and do the ring/amazon for $10/month. And just google alarm monitoring and there are tons of companies that will do it for about the same price.
Please share details....
Really, though, with systems like ring that notify your phone for free, do we really need to pay someone to monitor it? I can call the police just like they will, probably faster.

To find better ways to sell you shite, better than Google listening to you to find out better ways to sell your information to others.
