Im looking for a new TV but all the ones from brands I've heard of come with some smart TV operating system. My AppleTV works great, and I dont want to use some clunky UI that comes with the TV. I just want a 4K TV that works like a TV from 2010.

I have a Samsung smart TV, but I don't like their hub with all the apps so I just don't use it.

My mom has a colossal Vizio and she doesn't use their hub.

I'm sure you can just buy any TV, use your inputs and have a good experience.

Probably not given how cheap it is to add "smarts", but you don't have to use it. Just leave your TV on the appropriate input and use the AppleTV as usual.

Then don't use their installed apps. All of my TVs are smart and I use zero of the built-in apps

I have a smart TV but use none of the built in features. Like you said, Apple TV is almost perfect no reason to use anything else. Pretty much all TVs now are smart TVs.

Not trying to convince you otherwise, but smart TV UIs have gotten a ton better.

I have two ATV 4Ks sitting unused because all the Sony TVs we bought have built in Android. It now seems less cumbersome to use the built in OS, which is the opposite of how I felt 5ish years ago.

it’s been a while but check walmart. bought a 55in vizio and it was 100 bucks or so cheaper because it didn’t have the smart hub. but it’s possible these days they all have that.

I use a Shield TV Pro. THE remote turns on and controls the sound system, the LG OLED and the Shield. It's a beautiful thing.

The only time I let my TVs connect to the internet is to allow firmware updates. Otherwise I disconnect them from Wi-Fi and block them on my router.

The amazing thing on some of my cheaper TVs is that menu's working 100x faster

I actually like the Samsung interface on the newest one we have. Bought it less than a year ago, and it came preloaded with Prime, YouTube, Netflix, Disney+ which was great since I have 3 kids, and some built in streaming channels. I was able to download Sling, Hulu, and some other stuff, and it has a built in web browser for when I want to watch something from a website, which we do often. It is much faster than the 4k Firestick I also have hooked up to it. Plus it is ethernet connected so no WiFi lag. I thought I wouldn't like it, that's why I hooked up the firestick, but it is nice to have just one remote.
