Moved out of our house early December
Moved into new house late December

Called ATT to transfer services WiFi and Uverse on Friday 27 December.

The installation was supposed to occur today, SEVEN days later.

Now, they’re telling me NEXT Thursday. They expect folks to go 13 days with no internet and smile about it?? All I want to do is watch Netflix in my new house with some popcorn and Coke Zero!!

MEANWHILE, we’re out of phone data because we haven’t had access to WiFi in 30 days!!!!

What can be done? This is absurd.

You can do like I did and completely remove AT&T from your life. If a product/service is part of the AT&T empire, I won't spend a dime on it.

They give zero fricks and have zero respect for their customers.

Why did you wait until after you moved out to transfer service?

To answer your question though, not really. Unless you have another service available in that area and tell them if they beat ATT they have your business.

I did the exact same thing like 5 years ago. People don't have to give them their business.

We’re on about day 30 without any reliable WiFi.
We would have loved to have had it setup today in our new home, but nope.
Not only does my employer not provide WiFi, I haven’t been at work since the 19th.

You might think that if you're used to dealing with AT&T for everything, but it's not true.

Switching to another carrier, any other carrier, for any service, will be much less hassle.

Call the Public Service commission and complain. The office of the president of Att will contact you.

COX isn't too awful pricewise if you get internet only. Just don't listen to their bullshite about it being cheaper if you add basic TV to the package... it's not cheaper.

That said, I hate COX too, just not as much as I hate AT&T.

As for what else is there, that depends on your exact address. I'm lucky that I'm in the Eatel service area.

My last dealings with AT&T were with the "office of the president", but I took a different route to getting in touch with them. After spending hours on the phone with AT&T "customer support" and getting no resolution, I posted in detail on AT&T's public forum all the ways AT&T had fricked up our service. They contacted me pretty quickly after that.

Here is a quick overview of only part of the reason I hate AT&T:

Due to their failure to maintain their infrastructure, my company's landline phones were completely down for a week. That was the problem with the service, which was already plenty to make us switch carriers. But the worst part was their customer service. Those motherfrickers tried to tell me they could only give us credit on our bill for the days that our service was interrupted! What?! I told them we are trying to run a business here, and there is no fricking way we're paying a dime, much less 75% of our bill when we had no telephones at all for a whole fricking week. I told them to shove that bill up their arse, and they'd have to send it to collections for that little $200 or whatever.

That's when I posted on their forum, talked to "the office of the president", and not only did they credit the whole month, but they also mailed us a check.

Needless to say, it wasn't nearly enough to cover the losses due to no phones, and we couldn't afford to keep the service. That check paid for the first month of Cox business telephone.

That is strange, I moved from one house to another in the same city. A few days before I moved, I called to transfer my Uverse service. At first he told me I had to mail them back my Modem/Router and they would send me a new one. I had to explain to him that "no I didn't". After a while, he said I was right and set the termination/hookup day on the day I wanted. Internet at my old house was cut off at 5am and started at the new place at the same time. Just hooked up the modem in the new place and it started right up. I have found that the people in Asia/India or wherever they are have no clue what they are doing or how stuff works. I would love to be ATT free but it is the best internet in my area. I did cancel DTV and paid the $80 cancellation fee with a smile on my face. Hulu Live has been nice.

With AT&T, I’ve found you have to be relentless. Keep calling, trying different departments, services, etc.

If you know a Tech, or if someone in your area has service, ask them for the Tech’s phone number. EVERY tech I’ve had out at my house gave me their phone number and their supervisor and said to contact them directly if I needed any service or updates. I’ve done this a couple times and had them out same day or next day.

Their customer service is terrible, but it’s really hit or miss. You can definitely find some really helpful people. But a local tech should be able to set you up, as long as their is a ticket in the system.

Good luck!

I would use homing pigeons, a string can, smoke signals etc before I use AT&T again.
