I have a 6s. I played with the 11 the other day.

What’s the big deal? It feels like the exact same user experience.

Better camera I know, but what else?

Is Apple stagnant? Am I spoiled?

Well Apple can't win here. If they make an OS that obsoletes your 6 then they are accused of planned obsolescence. If they make a new OS that runs just fine on your mega old phone they aren't innovating.

Probably yes and yes. I just went from the 6s+ to the 11 Pro. Should be arriving any minute. I have a toddler now and the camera was worth it to me. The faster chip and huge memory will be a plus.

Are we to the point that maybe all phones are becoming close to tapped out? How much do we really need them to do?

Probably....

I just upgraded from a 7 plus to an 11. I don't notice a huge performance difference anywhere to be honest. I don't think that's a knock on Apple. I really liked my 7 plus. I do like the smaller bevels, camera, and face id though.

Oh yeah! That too. The battery on mine is shite.

I'd be willing to sacrifice a small light phone for a heavier phone that had a much larger battery.

Maybe a dual sim phone that did Verizon and at&t would be awesome.

My wife just made the same switch, she did it for battery life, and camera. Other than that, she actually prefers the size of the 6s and she hated face Id so far (although I am sure that will change).

But as far as just normal interface stuff with the os, she says the phone feels the same

No home button takes a minute to adapt to. Payoff is bigger better screen

I just upgraded from 7+ to 11 and while it’s not life changing, it was worth it. Better battery, faster, better camera. The iOS and apps work better with it be they’re designed for this screen/no home button.

I guess I wish they just offered some customization of the user experience. Not new features, just something less boring to use.

Earth shattering idea, I know.

I have considered it too. Let me know if you find one that’s worth a darn.

Phones honestly haven't changed much in that time frame. My wife has a 6s and I'm hoping it holds on another year. The 2020 phones should be a worthwhile upgrade with 5G coming.

The iPhone XS and 11 series do this.

It really has gotten to the point where the returns are diminishing.

As an Android only guy I can confirm its mostly the same with us.

I'm still rocking the OG Pixel XL, and have zero reason to upgrade to a Pixel 4.
Sure the camera is upgraded but even older top end phones have great cams.

The difference is actually more dramatic in android. The new One Plus would amaze you compared to that old pixel.

I'm using an iPhone SE (6s electronics in the body of a 5) on iOS 13.1.1 and it still meets my needs.

At some point their slight beneficial additions will not overcome their extremely high prices and people will stop buying them or switch. It hasn't happened yet, but they are nearing the top of their life cycle.

Sales have been steadily decking for years (not just Apple - people don’t buy a new phone every year anymore).

5G and improved battery life are going to be the next features people will shell out for.
