I need to buy Microsoft Office

with outlook. I don't want to spend $70 a year or whatever crummy residual money grab they want. I want to buy it for a reasonable price, install it and move on with my life. Is this possible? I need, MS Word and Outlook. These are must haves for me. I'm even open to a reseller if they aren't shady as heck.

Do you look like a college student, or even a grad student? College book stores sell them for cheap.

Also if you have Outlook at your job, chances are they have a 365 subscription or Home and Business which is good for a few installs.
Otherwise yeah, MS is driving up the price on standalone versions of Office to get everybody to move over to 365.

Pretty sure it moved to a cloud based subscription. Have you tried libre office?

He specifically said he needs Outlook. OpenOffice does not have an email client.

$226 on Amazon
I'm assuming you're calling this price unreasonable, as $70/y over 3y until the new one came out would be approximately the same.
Is there a reason you can't/won't use the free Microsoft Mail app? Which features of outlook are essential to you?

He can use Thunderbird instead. Thunderbird is much better anyway.

Look to see if you get a discount for it with your job.
I get it for $10/year.
Or find someone with a college account

Take a look at "Evolution." It is free, looks almost the same as Outlook, has the same buttons, and is actually more customizable. I have been using it for several years now, along with Libre Office. Both are open source and free to use. Give them a try, you won't be sorry.

Just do the one time purchase from Microsoft site instead of subscription

Why not just buy Office 2019? buy it once, install it, and use it as long as you want for the one price. You don't have to go the 365 route.

you can still buy Office 2016 Home and Business, which includes outlook, as a one time purchase.
