Looking for new monitors for my home office. Currently have two old Dell square monitors. Want widescreen obviously. Can anyone recommend something to replace? Should I go with dual monitors or one big split screen? Curved? Will be using only for excel, project, etc. No gaming. Would like to stay under $300 all in. Cheaper the better. Thanks.

Definitely, your best bet is going to be a 34" 3440x1440 monitor. I'd check out the Dell 3415w, but it probably is going to run you around $500.

First you need to ask yourself why you need, or don't need, 2 monitors. I have coworkers that do a lot of multiple windows side by side work and they went with 2 24" monitors. I don't do side by side much so I went with 1 27 inch monitor. I still have a good bit of screen real estate and 27 vs 24 is a noticeably bigger picture.

If it isn't for gaming, then I recommend a 40"-ish 4k tv. I use one as a work monitor at home, and it is fantastic. More screen real-estate than I know what to do with.

Side by side is required for what I do.

I upgraded to dual 22 inch widescreens at work a few years ago, and will never go back. You can get a pair of them on Amazon for about $100 each. A little more if you need HDMI inputs, but not much. I had dual 17s before that, but no widescreen. Excel is so much better on a wide monitor.

Two screens is the way to go. I like it a little more than 1 huge screen because you get more resolution.

Also, if you do a lot of portrait document work, I would say to stay way from the ultra wide screen. The old 4:3 or 16:10 aspect ratio is better for that kind of stuff in my opinion.

I have the Dell 34" curved monitor after switching from the the traditional dual monitor setup. I love it and will never go back

I'm currently wielding a browser with tOT up and another browser running vSphere Web Client (app that manages virtual infrastructure)

No issues whatsoever and it is a much cleaner looking workspace.

I have 2 24" wide screen, a 20 inch square screen, and my laptop screen.

So I would definitely recommend dual

I have two monitors. Can’t function when trying to do work with just my computer screen.

Dual and don't look back.

Once you get used to having more than 1, you can never go back to only having one

Just to be clear we're talking dual vs ultrawide right? I mean, if I can drag sheets or other windows to one side and have them maximize on half of an ultrawide, then I'm not sure it really matters.

At that point, I would assume it just comes down to screen real estate

If I had the desk space, I'd get this

I strongly prefer the UW route for a couple of reasons. First, you don't have a giant bezel in the middle of your screen. Also, if you're only working on a single window, it's nice to maximize that window on your entire display without any bezel or interruption.

Correct. Dual vs ultrawide. You kind of answered my question. Is there any benefit of having two monitors over an ultrawide with near the same screen space? Are ultrawides just as easy to manage what I need to look at as a dual setup? I’m leaning towards an ultrawide right now but I am a little bitch and afraid of making the switch from dual. Also, sick vape in first pic.

Currently using three monitors for my home office and I have two portable monitors for when I'm on the road. I'm using the 15" laptop monitor, an old square monitor that's 19" and a 26" Vizio TV as my main monitor. I'd like to go with an Ultra wide, but worried about taking up a lot of space on my desk. I've been looking at the 34" LG Ultrawide at Costco, but seeing a lot of mixed reviews. It's running about $280 right now.
