It looks like fast wireless charging may be crippled also.
Despite more powerful options being available, Apple will allegedly be going with technology capping the "iPhone 8's" wireless charging at 7.5 watts, resulting in slower speeds.

If you want to see something really scary, look up Energous. If they ever get Watt Up working, it will be real charging at a distance, up to 15 feet, they say.

I'm sure it's fine but that feels like it could be bad.

nope, as much as i despise a lot of apples business practices, and just their holier-than-thou attitude in general, they make a solid product that has become ubiquitous in daily life. all of my apple products work well together, and i've never had a major issue with any of them (iphones, macbook pro, imac, ipad). the only product i've purchased that pissed me off was the appleTV 4, because it didn't include 4k at the time, when everybody else's product did, but even then it operated better than any other streaming device i had used. plus, they just fixed the 4k hdr issue with the latest one, and added gigabit ethernet.
so no, i've never had an android, and likely never will. i'm too comfortable with the iphone OS at this point.

Android in the early 2010's was pretty terrible IMO. Coupled with the HTC Evo I was rocking it was not a good mix. Went with iOS in 2012 and haven't looked back...until now.
After doing some research I think I'm getting an S8+. I may wait and see what the Pixel 2 brings too. It's a testament to how much the iPhone X has disappointed me if I'm truely considering a switch back to Android.

For most users, the interface you're most used to/comfortable with will be the one to stick with. The technology and capabilities differences are so minuscule that it really doesn't matter beyond personal preference and which corporation you would rather have your money :)

I'm sticking with my iPhone 7. The new features of the 8 and the X are cool, but none of them seem to warrant spending the time and money to sell my 7 and buy a new one.

I have not owned an Apple product since the 4th gen iPod and don't ever plan to again because of one thing and one thing only...
frick iTunes!!!
If I could use an Apple device like I can my Android ones and do what I want to them when I want to without going through some bullshite, piece of shite software I would use nothing but Apple devices.

I switched from iOS to Android last year with the first Pixel. Got the S8+ this year. Do yourself a favor and wait for the Pixel 2. My S8 is gone instantly once that happens.
Fight through the first month of being lost on the new OS. Once you get used to Vanilla Android you'll never leave again. It's come along way.

Meh. I'm on Android now, and have been for three years, and I'm likely going with the X.

I think the only time I have used iTunes from now til when I got the 5 is when I screwed up installing a beta OS and had to force it back to release.
With streaming services, iTunes is pretty pointless.

Ditto for the fast charging capability, which requires purchasing a USB-C/Lightning cable and new charger, roughly $75 total from what I understand. They're still providing a charger and cable, just not "a good one," unless they surprise everyone when they start shipping.
The iPhone 8 order page is now up, and it's still the same old crappy 5W USB charger and Lightning cable. No surprise there. Sad.

Tim cook should be drug out into the street and shot for this
Extra $75 for a charger that actually works on an $800 phone with 60% margin built in. Hysterical. Gotta keep investors happy after constructing a 2 billion dollar spaceship office.
It's an added feeeeeeeeature to charge the phone fast. Why you think you should get that for free?
Can't wait for the Apple retards to defend this move.

i saw a cnet video where brian tong said if you want the extra features to work on the iphone X its going to cost your somewhere around $1,400 after tax.
And that was not including a wireless charger pad.
And this is for the base iphone X.
