I like mine. It's admittedly been my first smartphone but I haven't had many issues at all.

Every Google phone has had hardware issues since the Nexus days. I like the concept of having a phone straight from Google, but their hardware is arse both in quality and design.
Take the Pixel 2 as an example. When that phone came out, every manufacturer was trying to ditch bezels on their expensive flagship phones. The Pixel 2 went the other direction and actually got bigger bezels than the old Nexus 5 and 5x. The phone looked antiqued right out of the box when compared to the Galaxy s8 or iPhone X. It also suffered from a number of pesky issues that went relatively unaddressed (like the blue screen tint).
The only reason to buy a pixel phone today is if you NEED Android updates as soon as possible. Other than that, almost every manufacturer has better and more dependable hardware than Google.

I can't believe no one else has screen scratching issues.

I loved the OG XL, but I waited until the 4 came out and had intended to get it. I was disappointed in the lack of features, etc so I went with the Note 10+ and have been just as happy as I was with the Pixel. No idea if the 4 is any good or not, but I feel like they kinda punted on development of it.

I have had
Pixel XL
Pixel 2XL
Pixel 3Xl
Currently Pixel 4XL
I haven't had hardly any issues. The Pixel 2 XL was buggy.... But the rest have been trouble free. My company still uses all of them. You must have had bad luck man

i read horror stories of people's screens scratching on the 3XL almost as soon as they took it out of the box so i was really paranoid.
i'm going on 6 months now and yes i'm a woman so i have the phone in a murse w/ slots for credit cards but ive dropped it too many times to count and left the wallet case 'opened' and my 5yo has picked it up 100x and played with it when i needed something to distract him.
nothing.
i probably just jinxed myself but i don't know why or how people are getting scratched screens so quickly. i honestly dont to anything special other than having it in a wallet case.

I recently got rid of the 2XL. It would immediately turn off when I would plug it in to charge. Even though the battery charging icon would appear while off, it would not charge. I only found one cable that would charge it, however, it would only work after it turned off.

Y'all are scaring me. I just ordered my first ever Pixel phone after having pretty positive experiences with Moto.

you know all major phone makers are buying the latest version of gorilla glass from corning right? in the marketing slicks for new phones they even tout which version they're using.
corning has literally stated they sacrificed scratch-resistance in favor of stronger glass in the newest gorilla glass versions.
what you should be doing is looking at the specs of the ihpone in question vs android phone in question and seeing which version of glass each is using. thats the only way to compare.
saying a 4 year old iphone you've had for 'years' is better is not a valid comparison because it used a completely different glass.
its silly to blame google for this issue unless they went out on a limb and went with a completely different glass manufacturer than all the other major phone makers.
Read this:

quote:
The main way that glass makers strengthen glass is through tempering, which can either be an intense heating process or a chemical treatment, like the aforementioned salt bath. As Caltech professor of materials science William L. Johnson explains, the internal stress causes the glass to yield more easily to any introduced stress on its surface. In simple terms, that means when the glass is more tempered, it often scratches more easily.
quote:
Forester denies that the company has lost scratch resistance over the years, claiming that you can’t see a difference when looking at smartphones “on the macro level,” or from a distance. He also points to the trade-off between thinness of glass and its durability and strength; Forester claims that when Corning presents major OEMs with more durable glass, the feedback is always that the glass should be thinner.

CORNING SAYS BECAUSE MAJOR OEMS PREFER THINNER GLASS, SCRATCH IMPROVEMENT IS ALWAYS COMPROMISED

My iPhone is less than a year old.

Look genius, I've owned an iPhone since the first one ever came out. And bought a new one pretty ever version. Never had a scratching problem.

It's like you completely ignored what I posted above.

NO it's more like you made one of the dumbest assumptions I've seen in a long while, and that's saying a lot...

Because you said you've had your iPhone for years and years and it hasn't scratched?
Maybe use clearer grammar next time. Older iPhones were more scratch resistant than new ones or are you just pretending Apple has a magical version of gorilla glass nobody else uses?
I'm the one who stated facts which you are ignoring.
