Did your Nexus 6P get stuck in boot loops and randomly shut down due to battery issues? If so, you might be in line for some cash. Google and Huawei have reached a preliminary agreement to settle a class action lawsuit with compensation for owners of the Android reference phone. Provided the court approves the settlement on May 9th, anyone who bought the 6P from September 25th, 2015 onward will be eligible for as much as $400 if they provide documentation. Those who already received a Pixel XL as part of a warranty exchange can only qualify for a maximum of $10.
This isn't the first such lawsuit in recent memory. As The Verge pointed out, LG faced a similar lawsuit after multiple phone models (including the Nexus 5X) suffered from their own boot loop troubles. In January 2018, it paid $425 (or $700 via rebate) per person for the fault. While incidents like this are headaches for customers, they do tend to lead to settlements like this -- eventually.

Damn, I'd much rather that $400 now then my Pixel XL, but I don't know if I could have lived through another year with that 6P

i bet Google offers a huge credit probably 1.5-2x the cash settlement

Wait. Where's that located? I had a 5x.
Dang, I think it's out of claim time.

Wow! Cant believe this is still going on.
The 6P was an awesome phone for me until the battery crapped out. Unfortunate that due to the design, it was extremely difficult to replace the battery itself
Google more or less refunded me in its entirety for my 6P when they ran out of refurb replacements.

Agreed. I loved my 6P. When I got the pixel XL as a replacement, I was disappointed when it arrived. I ran a Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 after that until I got the Note 9 in December of last year. Samsung has come a long way since my last one which was my first foray into android, the galaxy S3.

This is fantastic news. I bought an XL after my 6P battery crapped out so I'm definitely going to try for the $400.

my original 6P had the boot problem and Google sent a replacement but then about a year and a half later my battery was shite
so i hope i can get something. i'm sure it won't be the max award, but even $150 would be cool
like i said earlier, i bet Google offers something like $150 in cash or $275-300 in credit on a new phone (presumably the 4 XL)

Tempting, I would take the credit towards a 4 XL

Google sent me the Pixel

They still offering monies for nexus 5x? Posting from mine now. Haven't yet found a compelling enough phone to buy to replace it. Have had two (the second a refurb) boot loop on me but were replaced by Google. Second replacement was a new phone and haven't yet had any serious issues. It's old now and no longer receiving updates (may flash lineage soon) but still kicking.

What’s the claim website? Looks like I’m owed $400.

Yep, May it is. I got a solid two years on my phone before battery went bad so I’m not mad at all

anyone found a link yet?

Ya me too but I won't complain how I was treated. Bought the phone for $250. Bootlooped 6 months later. Got a refurb and it had problems 6 months later.
Google Fi gave me my purchase price back and was running a $100 Fi credit to get Pixel 2 at the time so that was fair enough.

Bump
Got an e-mail from Amazon (where I bought mine) just now directing me to file my claim. Figured I'd post the link here in case others haven't gotten a link. Would be pretty sweet to get an unexpected couple hundo for this

Wonder if being able to prove the issue will determine the amount you are paid. I had a lengthy online chat with support before they told me I was SOL, but of course none of that was saved on my end.
Just read the FAQ.....I experienced both battery drain and bootloop, but if I can't prove it then I'll only get a max of $45.
frick that, anyone know how I can get a transcript of those chat logs?

That sucks. I have no proof, unless I could somehow pull up my google search history from that time showing I was constantly googling for fixes for the bootloop. How would anybody know they should've documented that?

Vishwanath is telling me that although the logs exist, they do not have an option to send them out. Lol, completely bullshite.
