Outside of football season, I watch YouTube more than Netflix and Amazon Prime combined. Almost everything they recommend is something I enjoy. I’ve been impressed with their algorithms.

I've been a fan of their algorithm but either someone in my family has been using my account or I'm in the same boat as the OP. Their suggestions have gone bonkers. 90% this past week is nothing I have ever remotely searched.

youtube's suggestions have been terrible for me for a few months now
like the topics vaguely connect with what i watch but are the worst suggestions. like all the politics is just major news outlets (i think this one has been basically outed. they're shifting away from politics and funneling all the traffic to major news to kill the YT news industry)
the big issue is they never suggest much new. it's always just old videos of recent producers that i've watched and not new people within the sphere. it leads to a loop scenario where you really get a refined suggestion palate

YouTube has removed and gutted the wild animal videos over the years.
They used to have so many great African migration videos featuring wild animals doing wild animal things, but much of it has been scrubbed.

Itt sucks, because they are demonetizing people for literally zero reasons, while also creating fake channels.
That broad in the van, fake. Yahoo created her and her channel. And got turds/mouthpieces like Defranco and such to promote her.
People were being subbed, whit out even subbing to her. Once Youtube was called out with facts, her numbers went from 30K a day down to 3-4K.
And she isn't the only one, this is their new way of being able to control the content and providers on their network.

Yup. I have been watching videos about trucks because I needed to buy a new one. Now that I have bought it, I am still getting truck review videos all over the place. I wonder how long it will take to weed them out.

Have you tried manually removing these searches from your history?
I do that occasionally to rid myself from viewing links people have imbed around here. You might also see what others have watched on this machine/account.
