Title says it all. Had my 6s Plus forever but the battery drains like a motherfricker so time to replace.

I know the new edition iPhones will have better cameras and will be a little faster but is that basically it? The 6 Plus meets all my needs as it is and not having a headphone jack is a turn off. Part of me just wants to get a new unlocked 6s plus for $200ish and keep my monthly bill low rather than upgrading just to upgrade, but if there are significant improvement besides being a little faster or having a little better of a camera that’s maybe a different story.

My wife just upgraded from the 6s to the XR. She is very happy with it. Camera is significantly better. Screen is much better (and bigger for the 6s). Overall, I feel like it was worth it. Battery is also so much better than even when the 6s was brand new

i got my wife an X and i feel like the 'notch' form factor is going to be around longer than the old 6/7/8 style so its just my dumb guess that the software updates may be a bit more reliable for the phones released in the last 2/3 years with the notch built-in than the older bezel-style particularly when it comes to the odd screen dimensions.

so in short i'd go with the notch-form factor (for lack of a better term)

iPhone 6s plus could be bad due to iOS 13 update. It may take a patch to correct it.

If it’s only the battery go to the Apple Store and get them to replace it for $20.

At least get a XR. Isn't it a tech rule of thumb to never buy majorly outdated gear?

Fingerprint unlock/Siri also doesn’t work anymore

I mean I guess. I’m trying to figure out what’s so special about the new gear. If it’s just better camera and slightly faster then idk if it’s really worth it.

I had a 6s+ as well. I just got the 11pro. I have an under two year old, so the camera was a big selling point for me. It is vastly more superior than the 6s camera. The battery has been fantastic as well. If you make phones last for 4-5 years, which it seems like you can, then it is a worthy upgrade.

The camera on the XR is way better than the 6s, and from all the reviews the 11 is noticably better than the xr

Replace my 6S with an XR when Apple was offering a pretty good trade for the 6s (paid 549 for the XR). THe battery life on the XR is so much better than it is on even a new 6S. don't know what the 11s get you.

It’s the same battery, you are essentially paying $100 more for the camera on the 11 vs X

Bump here.

My wife has an 8+ that I think I can get $350 for, so I may go ahead and upgrade her.

Is she going to notice a difference on the 11 pro vs the 11. I'm leaning 11; however, she takes a ton of pictures of our kids. She isn't a professional photographer - is the difference going to be noticeable for us?

I'm probably about to get the 11 Pro myself. Considering our phones are pretty much the only cameras we have (we do have a camera, but it's been ages since we pulled it out for anything), I want all of the features and capability in my phone camera I can get. We have three kids, and there is never a lack of need for having a good camera. For the price difference.........put it this way - you won't miss it when you're dead.

Fair point. One thing I love about apple is the resale value. If you buy the better phone, its almost always worth it on resale.

Which is why I am considering upgrading. Her 8+ is fine, but I can hold it for another year and get $300 for it, or sell now for $400.....its almost always a good idea to upgrade, at most you lose $100 a year to keep a newer phone. Am I wrong here?

I don't think so. And on resale, if you keep it in pristine condition, which I tend to do, you can sell a three generation old, unlocked iPhone for a good $400 on ebay. I've hit $450 or better on the last three I've done that way.

I'm probably going to switch to Xfinity mobile and when I do, I'll get the 11 Pro, my wife will have the 8 and my last batch SE will go to my son who currently has an LG K20 (cheap, but good phone). He's been responsible with it, so no reason not to hand the SE down to him. He'll likely complain that it's smaller, though.

By this time next year you are going to need to replace the 6S, as it likely won't be supported with an iOS update about that time. I went from 6 Plus to XR a couple weeks ago when VZ ran a $200 off an upgrade to XR. I figured that meant they were going down that much anyway with the 11 coming out, but I went ahead and did it.

Everything about the XR is way better than the 6.
