Fire stick and it’s not even close. ROKU has limited applications and with the fire stick, you have a multitude of options including adding additional applications outside the fire stick network. ROKU programming is limited to Pluto programming for the most part but with Firestick, you can add iptv services which has a wide range of global channels. All those that are discarding your firestick is due to lack of knowledge. Firestick hands down for all the reasons stated above and more.

100% NO.

i run my IPTV service through Plex and the plex app works on any platform.

i will never go back to a shitty firestick because i can 'jailbreak' it again. its just a terrible product.

been there done that for years. no more.

Yes, of course a user asking a simple question is going to be a hardcore side loader and IPTV stealer next week.

Is there any other reason to ever own a firestick?

The Onn box with IPTV, Tivimate & Plex is superior to the fire stick in every way.

+1

Not many options for IPTV, but I use IPTVX and my own provider and it's setup pretty nice. Sucks you can't get TiviMate.

Best interface and performance I've used on a TV box though

I have both and prefer Roku. One reason is that the Firestick won’t run the ESPN app for shite. Crash city. Roku runs it fine.

every single firestick i've ever owned felt like it was underpowered right out of the box.

my most recent experience that mimics yours is we were in chattanooga with extended family a few weekends back and SiL and her bf flew in from CO and wanted to watch the NBA playoffs so they plugged their firestick into the tv at the cabin we were at and spent about 45 minutes NOT watching the game; ESPN app buffered RELENTLESSLY and UNMERCIFULLY (this was a brand new firestick) and finally I couldn't take it anymore and pulled up sportsurge on my phone and mirrored it to the TV and we were able to watch the game with ZERO issues.

yet these stupid fricking streaming providers still cant figure out why we use pirate sports sites and personal IPTV setups.

i fricking wonder why.

so yeah, that experience from a month ago is not going to make me want to change my mind on the firetstick and i dont give a rats-arse if this is disney's fault or amazon's fault; end result is the same; like trying to watch tv from 20 years ago when the first HD tv channel went online.

I much prefer roku's layout and app, but I know some people like to add things to the firestick that you can't with the roku. I have Plex, so I don't really need anything else.

It's absolute trash. Also, my firesticks have always ended up breaking at some point. My rokus have never. I actually buy mostly roku built in tvs though.

I have an old Roku box that's probably 12 years old. It's in my office now and I use it maybe 2x/year and while it's slow, it still works with no issues.

my 2 cents is every firestick i've ever purchased becomes slow as molasses after a few months and no, a factory reset doesn't help.

100% this...I used to have nothing but firesticks but now I buy nothing but Roku

A Firestick is a turd. I got rid of all of mine years ago. Buggy, laggy, shitty interface. Then again, they're inexpensive, so what do you expect.

Conversely, the Roku Ultra is great. It's snappy, reasonably priced ($80 on Amazon), and the interface is much better. The new backlit Roku remote and USB-C rechargeable get up is absofrickinglutely wonderful. Can't stress enough how much I love the backlit remote.
