We had a Nintendo 64. Most of my friends either had a PS1 or N64. Never got to play Saturn.

I recently started collecting for it and have found that I love it. Some of the games are ridiculously expensive however.

Had a close friend in high school who had one. He had every console and it was probably my favorite.

My roommate in the dorms my freshman year got one. This was 1999/2000 and I had brought a Sega Genesis and a N64. He had the Saturn, and the guys across the hall had a Playstation. The controller for the Saturn was odd. At least the one he had for it. Looked like a big frisbee with buttons all around.

There's a few ok games, the whole thing was pretty much a disaster though. I would get a cart and just burn ISO's on cd's to play the games, buying them will be very very expensive.

I had the marketing VHS they sent out for that system.

Not sure how we got that thing in the first place.

The Saturn begins to hit different when you start dabbling with Japanese titles. A lot of great stuff never made it to the states.

It's also a 2D fighter powerhouse

The main reason it was my favorite.

I still love that generation for what it is, but deep down I wish that the 5th Gen consoles would have been the pinnacle of 2D rather than the beginning of 3D.

That's what Saturn was initially going for until Sony came in and bamboozled the market.

6th Gen, IMO, should have been the start of 3D.

Never had a Saturn but I got a Dreamcast once the GD-Rom got hacked and you could write the bootable images onto CD-Rs.

Just buy them on Xbox marketplace. They sell multi packs of classics from nearly all consoles for under $20.

Asked for a NeS and was given a Sega master for Xmas in the 80s

I had never heard of it but it had some great games. I became popular because everyone would come over and play Double Dragon because it was 2 players fighting at the same time on Sega

I enjoy collecting just as much as I enjoy playing. There's something about playing on original hardware

We had one growing up. Part of the reason we got the Saturn was we had the Genesis, and the magazine Zillions* erroneously reported that the Saturn was backwards compatible with the Genesis. It wasn’t, the slot on the back was for memory cards, and the system was woeful compared to the PlayStation and N64. Later got a N64 when Saturn games petered out. With the benefit of hindsight I would’ve just got the PlayStation, which was superior to the Saturn and N64 IMO. Rectified that mistake in the next gen with the PS2, greatest console of all time.

*Zillions was Consumer Reports’ magazine geared towards kids, I was a very exciting child

When I was in the Air Force(1998), some guy was walking around the dorms trying to sell his Saturn(w8 games) and N64(w/12 games). He was broke and we basically just got paid. I showed some interest and he said he wanted $300 for both and I told him I wasn't interested. He ended up coming back and dropped the price to $200. I told him $150 and he walked. He came back 20 minutes later and accepted the deal.

The Saturn sucked arse and I ended up pawning it for $100 a few years later. I traded the N64 for a PS1.
