Japanese Commercial for Mouse brand laptop

Now, that aside... does anyone have a preferred brand for their laptops? Lately I've been sticking with Lenovo or ASUS, depending. I do have an high-end HP for my work laptop that has worked well for a long time, and my late father-in-law worked at HP for a while and swore by their business line (but would usually tell friends to stay away from the consumer line )

I like Asus, but I have a friend with a Surface Laptop that has been a really good machine. If I were to buy one today I would probably lean towards the new Framework laptops, really hoping they do well

I've been testing out the new HP elitebook laptops and they are phenomenal.

Easily one of the best keyboards I've used on a laptops, and I have X1 carbons at home

Lenovo for me. We split 50/50 with Lenovo and HP where I work. We had a lot of the HPs develop battery issues (swelling) within the first year. No issues with the Lenovo as far as I know.

Unless there's a specific newfangled tech feature you need, I'd recommend trying to find a couple of year old used enterprise level laptop. Honestly most any of them will do. I've had good luck with ibm/Lenovo and Dell, but all of them are going to be built a hell of a lot better than consumer grade stuff. They're priced higher, but if you go the used route you can get likely better value than anything new.

Generally try to grab an enterprise model Dell...preferably one that is 3-5 years old, to avoid any new hardware lacking Linux kernel support. This has worked well for the last dozen years or so, used to do IBM lappy's but they all went to shite around 2005 or so.

Happened to mine and a few others at work. We all have newer Zbooks, I think mine is less than 3 years old, and when I had mine replaced this summer our IT Tech said something about them changing the battery design and it has been nothing but trouble.

Other than that, it is an awesome laptop. Widescreen with a full keyboard and number pad. Mine is sort of souped up since I do a lot of SQL work.
