i'm sure that violates TOS

I'm not so sure. Is it for the service address only? Can you not stream at places other than your house?

ridiculous statement.... Family of 5? Only the parents can use it?

How often is data being used to reach 1TB? My wife and I stream and I play video games and the most data we have ever used was like 600GB.

They love to act like it takes anymore money to push 1TB to you than it does 10TB. Unbelievable.

look at the interview from a couple years back (i'll have to dig it up) where the comcast execs literally just sat down and pulled an arbitrary number of out the air to cap people with.

they admitted there is NO FINANCIAL OR TECHNICAL issue with unlimited data, they just seized on an opportunity to make even more money.

fricking greedy government-lobbyist-pseudo-corporate-frickentity.

I think one of the things people don’t realize [relates to] the question of capital intensity and having to keep spending to keep up with capacity. Those days are basically over, and you are seeing significant free cash flow generated from the cable operators as our capital expenditures continue to come down

ISPs are a great example of how we live ina crony-capatalist world

slow, please explain to me how i can change that?

netflix is going to use all available bandwidth to present the best quality image on the screen.

youtube does the same thing.

so i have to sacrifice 4K content so i can stay under a bullshite cap?

why not just sell my HDTV and go back to standard def while i'm at it.

And it'd literally be a non-factor if internet companies didn't decide to start doing this capping bullshite. This isn't like water where there's some finite amount of the service that everyone needs to pay their fair share of.

they found a way to meter it to make money on people who don't pay for cable to force them back into the herd.
I think in the long run it will be a failed business model for them (though we'll be proper fricked between now and then). They make more money off of advertising than they do off of TV subscriptions. When those subs fall enough advertisers will stop paying.

The major problem we have in this country is that our ISPs are our TV providers. So they have a strong desire to nerf their internet service because (right now) their TV service is their bread and butter.

But I don't see this changing without some significant changes in our governments: federal, state, local. They all have created an environment whereby these companies (TV) have a near total monopoly on internet service and have local monopolies in their service areas. Ever been to a parish council meeting when a new provider wants to use ROWs to get into a market? That's an eye opening experience for both the cronyism that exist and the ignorance of the abilities of free-market economy.

Except that it's an infinite resource with an arbitrary cap put on it. That's the issue.
