I have Comcast in Atlanta. We have been capped at 300GB for a while. I was getting killed with overages with 3 Netflix watching/computer gaming kids. Finally, I found out that I was able to pay an extra $30 a month for unlimited internet. Maybe that will be an option with Cox

Aren't HD movies only like 3gb? How is this even a concern unless you watch TV 10+ hours a day?

You still would need each of those using the internet like 10+ hours a day

That's why you get a VPN

they aren't going to sit by and lose money because you don't want to cable.
I'm not sure they were. 4 years ago, I got cox internet and paid something like $43.99 for 50 mbps. A few months ago, I was paying $62.99 for 15 mbps.
I switched to AT&T the week it became available in my neighborhood.

f you manage to use 1TB of data a month you need to rethink your life. That's an astounding amount of data. Then again, I don't have kids, multiple tvs, and 3-4 laptops phones and iPads.
thanks for the advice, single Bob.
those of us with families routinely hit this limit and we have a swimming pool and 2.5 acres of woods the kids are always playing in so GO frick YOURSELF because you don't know what you're talking about.

Maybe if they didn't offer a shite service I'd actually pay for it rather than stealing a password

What the hell are you people streaming to exceed those limits? I've only every gone over 300 GB once and it was only cause I had to upload a huge database file from home.

My wife and I share our Vic connection with my son next door. Four adults and two grand kids.
My wife watches (leaves running) streaming movies and videos. Our bedroom tv stays in all nught with movies or videos playing. Her phine, my phone and my tablet stay connected.
Next door, the two grand kids each have a Fire tablet. Son and wife connect their phones and the they stream all their TV. Son and grandson both play Xbox.
Most I ever used was 910mb. I understand that some may use more but maybe going outside every once in a while would fix that.
My only complaint is that all their plans are capped at the same amount.

exactly. i love the 'hey man thats alotta data you must sit in front of your computer 24/7 the whole month to use that much' because they are morons.
we have a shared 4K netflix plan. i have 4 kids. they all watch netflix off and on during the day. they play on ipads, android tablets and phones.
dad streams stuff to every tv on chromecasts and fire TV boxes because comcrap only provided me with one box and NO WAY to push the signal to other TVs in the house.
1TB gets eat up in a damn hurry when there are 6 people who are using some type of data for a month.

I got this email earlier and it shows that Im using less than 250GB, I think Im good

This gives me an idea - can I start a data cap credit business? Start trading in unused data? Like Al Gore did with carbon credits (which just about made him a billionaire by the way)?

yup. i never thought i'd feel ill when walking through the living room when nobody was home and teletubbies in streaming in 4K all day long on the tv.

its the digital equivalent of leaving the water running and thanks to fricking comcast, they found a way to meter it to make money on people who don't pay for cable to force them back into the herd.
eta this all boils down to comcast getting in front of the cut-the-cord crowd by batting their eyelashes and saying 'oh, does this affect those users who are streaming instead of paying for cable tv?? gee, we never even thought about that when we came up with this bullshite (cad spits foam onto computer monitor) data cap.'

How can they say you can't use your parents account to watch TV if your parents are fine with it?
i'm sure that violates TOS
the account/access is for the parents only

a VPN would be one of the easiest targets for sharing passwords. a randomized assortment of IPs?

You using 1000 times that amount of data does nothing to their ability to provide service or keep up their infrastructure.
You are now paying for all the people who cut their 500 useless channels and are streaming.
This x1000
They love to act like it takes anymore money to push 1TB to you than it does 10TB. Unbelievable.
