Weren't they thought of as the next Blockbuster just a few years ago? How Amazon and other online shopping outlets are hurting their business. Well, today their stock hit a six year high. Anyone know what's led to their resurgence?

I haven't been in a Best Buy in maybe two years but I would guess a number of things. Website with ecommerce and local pickup. Added value services like geek squad. Premium product lines mixed with their own sourced high margin lines. And proximity to Madigan's.

I buy almost every electronic and accessory on an impulse. I want to walk in and pick it up. If I have to wait even a day for Amazon delivery, the urge will pass and I won't buy it. This goes from cords to movies to TV's. I'm so impatient I rented a U-Haul to pick up a flat screen the other day vs waiting 2 days for Amazon to bring it to my door for cheaper.

Several restructures cutting dead weight and essentially selling real estate in their store to vendors.

Pretty smart moves operationally.

Oh and a refocus on actually selling things.

I thought they would go the way of Circuit City...but they have weathered the storm and appear to be doing well in the current business climate. Apparently they are bolstered by online sales, have competent sales staff and competitive in-store pricing.

Mobile, smaller store footprints, and leasing space internally as mentioned before. The online price matching thing has to hurt, but they make up for it selling service plans, installs, and high margin accessories.

The location in Monroe, La is always busy.
For the life of I can't understand why.
I shop this location frequently and don't mind paying more than Amazon so that I can have it immediately.
And buying something like a 60" online would be a pain in the arse.

When this store opened I fully expected there to be a bunch of angry rednecks screaming about it.

If they would build a Best Buy in my local town, I would never visit Gamestop again.

Their camera selection sucks at most stores but there are some stores that do have great selections.
