Adding to that, we can't do a bunch of long interviews and still be in that process when the committee comes out with their final rankings. We could get royally hosed if we were in that situation.

One of the beat guys said one of KC’s top priorities yestersay was making sure the CFP wouldn’t screw us. The first thing that crossed my mind when Pete was announced was regarding that. I’m sure he was advised that promoting our DC to HC would mitigate some of the concern vs not having a coach, having an interim coach, or still being searching once final rankings came out.

I’m not new here, and I’ve got a hundred bookmarks that say otherwise. TD and tRant were insufferable with LSU fans bragging about stealing away BK. Whenever anyone said anything remotely negative, like a bunch of lemmings, y’all replied in unison, “You’re just scared”.

Now we’re seeing the same thing again as people talk about the downside of Lane. Ex: He’ll absolutely frick up and lose games he shouldn’t, like Kentucky last year. He had 20 players go to the NFL on that squad and lost to Kentucky, which kept them out of the playoffs that year because he was too busy harassing his ex and dodging restraining orders. Get ready.

A fellow Rebel Ranter taking us to the ship will be absolute cinema.
Pete’s at least been on the inside of both Saban and Kiffin’s process and knows what and how to do it, just a matter of executing. We’ve got the capital and stroke of being in the playoffs to hire him a strong offensive coordinator + staff. What offensive coordinator wouldn’t want a couple million and a shot at a Natty with the talent we have his first week on the job?

I’m grasping at straws to find a silver lining here…someone else chime in to make me feel better, please.

News breaking that it’s Silverfield to Arkansas, if that’s the case, then we might have Golesh.

Edit: Maybe not, apparently Golesh to Auburn has some smoke…

It’s really going to come down to who KC has already had contact with over the last few weeks. I love the idea of trying to snag a Lincoln Riley type hire (not him specifically, just an example), but we unfortunately don’t have time for initial coffee dates and feeling each other out. We’re under the gun and have to move too fast to explore much further.

A big chunk of that were people trying to dismiss the possibility that Ole Miss was actually good vs Oklahoma being bad.
I’m ready for it to be over just like everyone else, but I hope it goes all night just to watch the CC board. They’re getting rabid over there.

Ahh yes, a hot ticket coach making Florida wait just to be sure the Ole Miss job isn’t available, an absolutely plausible scenario if there ever was one

If you’d ventured outside of TD, this has been talked about all week with sources from multiple different camps.

Jon Sumrall Expected to Sign

The Sumrall camp was contacted within the last hour saying the Ole Miss job is not available, they plan on proceeding with Florida and it will be announced after the Tulane game.

It takes 10 minutes to say "Changed my mind. Im Staying."

It also takes 10 min to say I’m leaving, and Keith Carter would want his arse out the door so he could immediately start calling backup options.
Tied right now, but has the potential to be the GOAT in the next 60 min.
It’s 1:00 on the day he said it’d be announced, and we were told at 9:00AM he had a meeting with OM this afternoon. Chill out.
Or he needed to meet with them to sign his extension…

It’s hilarious watching everyone decipher every little bit of info that comes out, and how it can be interpreted as good/bad depending on the tint of your glasses.

After 2022, I’m numb to it all and just along for the ride.

Sorry for the lack of updates as it was a wild night. I swear the fans cheering for Knox made for the loudest high school game I’ve ever heard! After the game, a bunch of us went out and painted the town, and boy am I regretting it right now…

Anyway, here’s the big news. I didn’t want to start a new thread and look like I was trolling, but last night at the game, LK was obviously asked the question by the massive group of Ole Miss fans who showed up to cheer for Knox outside concessions during halftime. He looked over, smiled, and said, “I’m home”.

Yes, because the cc board is chalk full of rational, intelligent people. It's corndog reddit over there.

This is fricking gold lmao

Don’t worry, I already started telling the fam that Santa might not make it this year because times are tough at the North Pole. Don’t worry, I’m not a psychopath, I’m going to wrap up the souvenir beer cups so they have something under the tree.
I remember my days playing Mississippi high school football. The press conferences after every game were bad, but media week before the season was the worst. They just wouldn’t let us live our lives and constantly hounding us for a sound bite.

This is the one time I won’t mind staying in Memphis. Oxford is going to be a fricking zoo, so not like you could enjoy the town anyways.
