I've got it at a flat $90/month for GB. I highly recommend getting a router, or even mesh, that can actually handle the speeds. The gateway theft give you is only going to max 200-400. I went with Google and am clearing 600-800 wireless.

Test connection on the Google WiFi app is measuring your Internet speed, not your wireless speed. You need to run something like Speedtest by Ookla on your wireless device to get your wireless speed.

Don't mean to hijack the thread, but I am curious as to how long it takes AT&T to light up the fiber. The subcontractor came through early last month and tore up the yards in the neighborhood running fiber. I would have thought at least one AT&T van would have been seen working the area since then.

I like most people are waiting for fiber so I can ditch Cox.

One other question, I know my neighbor across the street got one of the in-ground boxes dropped in her backyard. On my side of the street, I have the green Cox tube and a neighbor behind me has the green AT&T cube but not the in-ground box. I looked at the neighbors on each side of our houses and they don't have one either. How many houses do one of those boxes support?

Thanks

Was about 6-8 months from trenching my yard to availability. This was in St. Tammany.

They can give you a better deal than that trust me. Make sure you tell them you're leaving Cox so they need to make it worth it. I recently did a price check because my Cox was getting expensive. So i looked around and called Cox telling them if they brought my price back down to what i originally signed on for i would stay. I went with the AT&T deal because the arrogant Cox lady told me i just looked in your area and there's no one offering a better deal than we are. She basically told me to frick off i dont think you're going anywhere. So i left. Its pretty good though im satisfied.

The most you need is 100 up/down for several dollars cheaper for ATT. There’s no reason any civilian needs 300MBPS. You’d have a hard time even noticing the difference u less you’re download or gamer heavy with 30 devices hooked up to it.

People don't need to buy nice houses, cars, clothes, food either.

Also, with gigabit you have no data cap. That becomes more important with all the streaming these days.

I don’t think we’ve ever hit the cap and we stream all day and night. Never had any issues. Even the ATT person trying to sell me on 300gigs said it was completely uncessary unless I ran a business off of it.

Consumer grade networking equipment only supports gigabit ethernet, so you're unintentionally correct

ok. Let me look up something.....Well i have 14 days left in my billing cycle.... i have used 712gb of data.
Last month I used 1.12TB of data. oohh look, in january i used 1.86TB of data.

So you see. just because you dont hit your 300mb mark doesnt mean other people dont.

lowest i have seen them offer is 80/month for gig.

I got locked in for $70/month for lyfe of the contract for the gig

My hoa had a stupid contract with cox. When the contract finally ran they put the fiber in my neighborhood and offered me a pretty sweet deal. I have zero complaints especially for the price.

Cox comes with McAffee Security Suite for 5 devices included.

Does AT&T provide anything like that?

No and I had 1gb fiber for a year and did not come close to tapping into that bandwidth on even a remote basis. I can’t wait until we need to though.

This. I would still have comcast had they not put that 1 TB data cap every month. When you have 4 or 5 people streaming , gaming etc in your house that data Cap becomes a BIG thing! So i have At&T 1 gb fiber not for the speed but the unlimited data plan.

had cox with 300 dl and 25 up, 1 terabyte cap...104 a month

got AT&T optic fiber 1000 dl 1000 up that recently got installed in my neighborhood....90 a month unlimited data

i dropped cox(customer for years) like a hot potato...

the AT&T fiber is stand alone, not sharing the connection(throttling caused lag, buffering, frame rate)in your neighborhood like cox was during busy times(evenings)

Real talk here. How much longer is land based internet going to be a thing? Once 5G rolls out, is stable, and proves it can provide gigabit speeds, do you keep your landline internet service or do you just get unlimited mobile service and use your phone as a hotspot?

Curious about this as well. We have AT&T fiber available now in my neighborhood. I'm paying $94 after taxes, fees etc for Cox (150 Mbps) right now.

What neighborhood are you in? Reason I ask is because I am in Azalea Lakes and we just had the fiber lines run a month or so ago.
