AT&T Fiber customers, they're no longer honoring the $50 1 Gb promo for existing customers

They are allowing me to pay $70 while new customers have to pay $80. FWIW, they did send me a $100 loyalty card, but man.. $240 extra a year for the same service is annoying.
I work from home, do some light gaming, and have at most 2 TV streams going on at once. It's nice having the security of the 1 Gig internet, but do I even need it?
Another big draw back is I will lose HBO Max. I watch that more than any other streaming platform.

yup. I ended up dropping AT&T fiber due to the price increases.

I’ve got a very small rural provider. $150 a month for gig fiber. But to be fair it’s shocking I even have broadband where I live at all.

What’s your alternative?
I have Google fiber, CCI fiber and Xfinity to pick from as alternates to At&t.

No, no one does at this point.
Its overkill for average consumer use by a large margin.

Only gig speed internet option I have is cox, so that is what I have. The plus was adding full cable including HBO max, stars, showtime and skinamax for $29/month. We were already paying for HBO so the rest for $14/month is a steal.

I pay $71 all in for gig up/down plus HBO. I have a hard time fathoming someone being able to beat that by an amount that would make it worth it for me.

Truth. My household has moved from 1Gbps fiber to a 50/10Mbps internet plan and nobody has noticed a thing. with a router that has great QoS, we never see any buffering for critical things like wifi calls, teams calls, streaming, etc. Everything works perfect.

well damn between my inability to use my mesh system (except in a crippled manner) and the spiraling rates i'm wondering if i should stick with xfinity instead of going fiber at the new house.

What mesh issues are you having? What equipment? Are you using ethernet backhaul?

i see att forces you to use their combined modem/router and i can only use my eero in a limited capacity & lose all management capabilities so i might as well return it to amazon.
i have not moved yet but reading the att support page.

No you can't replace the AT&T equipment with the eero system.
There are 2 ways to use an eero system with AT&T, in Passthrough mode or bridge mode(on the eero system).
If you use passthrough mode then you can manage all devices that are connected to the eero system but you can't manage the AT&T Gateway from the eero app. You will have to use the Smart Home Manager app or the web interface on the AT&T Gateway for your internet connection and any devices directly connected to the Gateway.
Note: If you put your eero system in bridge mode then you lose almost all of the eero management tools. Specifically, you'll lose access to the following:
Family Profiles
eero Secure
eero Labs
Device bandwidth usage details
Device blocking
Advanced network settings management through the eero app

Yes. The gateway has to be in the connection stream, no way around that.
I have used the BGW320 in passthrough mode before. You just disable the wifi, disable the firewall, disable packet inspections and then enable IP Passthrough. Be sure to use DHCP Fixed and select the MAC address of your EERO router.
After that, reboot the eero and make sure it is receiving the external IP address. When you are there, you'll never even know the At&t gateway is there. All firewall, port forwarding, NAT, etc. will be at your EERO and nothing happening with the gateway.

I should add though, you'd probably have a much better experience and much better WiFi6 if you use the BGW320 gateway and pay the $10/mo for extenders. The extenders can use ethernet backhaul and they provide a much better wifi6 experience than amazon eero.
There is no contract on the extenders. So if you like them but dont want to pay $10/mo you can then cancel them and get a mesh system of your own.

better info than that long-arse thread.

i love naming my devices, grouping them and in general the eero UX but i just jumped from asus so i'm not opposed to doing it again since this is all new.
i heard the att mesh system kinda sucked but you're giving me hope maybe its not that bad.
any pics of the att/app managmeent ux?

I wouldn't go so far as to say this. Like you said, the gateway is still in the connection stream. Everything is set to straight allow through, sure, but it's possible to exceed the size of the state table and run out of connections.
This was a much bigger problem on the BGW210 than the BGW320, but it's still a possibility.
Doing an actual true bypass is possible on the BGW210, but complicated. Also saw someone do it on a BGW320, but it required BGA soldering and fabricating an interposer, which is probably beyond the scope of this thread

Yes. Lots of complaints about that but I never ran into the issue and I dont know anyone that has. I keep trying to find out what it takes to hit those connection limits but from what I gather you essentially need to be running a seed box at your house to create any problems.
I had as much as 5 people on the net, 2 TVs streaming, my work PC with active connections to at least 15 different background syncing services my company has on their computers, my VPN server, 30+ torrents running, my NAS remote backup service running and a few more things and I was never close to hitting connection limits.

i have 100+ smart devices (many of which wont be coming with me) and curious how many concurrent plex users i can support without a 20mbit upload cap that i currently have to deal with.

Did you ask to speak to their loyalty dept? I did that last year and renewed for the $50. I plan to do that again in August.
