If you can afford a $700 phone, you can afford a $200-or less pair of bluetooth headphones.
Most people can't afford a 700 phone, but they're patterned to account for it.
Adding in a couple hundred for bluetooth headphones is a new wrinkle to their tech paradigm.
I have reasonably high end headphones that stay in the drawer because I like the convenience of BT phones. But, I'm not going to pretend like the people bitching don't have a decent argument.

I own a pair of Jaybird Blubuds. They are very nice and I'm very pleased with them.
I still like my Bose earbuds better. Sound is better, they aren't as heavy in my ears, and I don't have to use noise isolating tips.
Anyone that thinks this is not a big deal is really ignoring that Bluetooth headphones are still not mainstream or cost effective.

I workout and run with my mPow earbuds all of the time and have never had them fall out.
Rubber earpiece with a fitting the contours to fit the concha part of the external ear lobe. It is snug and has the same size as an earpiece you see a musician wear.
$20

I mean yeah, my wired sennheiser's sound a lot better than my bluetooth Beats, but for Christ's sake, how often am I going to be charging my phone and wanting to listen to music to begin with?
It's not like you are going to be forced into using Bluetooth speakers for the rest of your life.

is it really that hard to keep whatever headphones you have and just leave the adapter attached to them at all times?
literally the only time this should cause issue is when charging AND listening on wired headphones, or if you swap between several wired headphones for some reason, right? that has got to be a pretty rare occurrence.

I missed the end of the keynote, will any headphones be included with the phone?

Does anyone know if my Sennheiser Orpheus cans will work with the new iPhone?

I don't want to take this too far because I'm not buying a 7 and I have BT headphones anyway, but sure, this would still annoy me if I had one primary set of cans that I use with something else (DAC, MacBook) and had to keep up with an adapter.

Hey Rocket31. Time to settle up on that bet buddy.
I need that $100 to help pay for the new headphones.

Pretty sure the adapter and usual headphones will be included

Is it really rare? I know quite a few people that plug their phone into AUX ports in their car.
Apple obviously did some research, I'm sure it will be fine. But for me, I would prefer a 3.5 jack.
Everyone has smartphones now, old to young, tech illiterate to tech savvy. Seems that they are potentially alienating a share of the market.

Now, for no good reason, they say frick you to my headphones jack?
When I fly internationally, I purposefully want to charge my phone and listen to my expensive arse headphones.
You are right... I can afford a $200 Bluetooth headphone set, but I can also afford a different fricking phone from a different fricking company that will give me a god damned jack that works with my eco-system.
First time I've had to consider a different cell phone manufacturer.... and they just made the decision really easy.

Headphones will connect via the Lightning port. A free set comes with with the phone, plus an adaptor for traditional 3.5mm jack headphones

The average user is not expected to buy $160 AirBuds. Lightning earbuds are included and replacement earbuds cost $30 on Amazon. There were some you can get from China for $14-$18. Not very different from the replacement cost of traditional ear buds, and I'd expect them to get cheaper as more 3rd parties bring out lightning earbuds because of the 7.
The mistake by Apple was not including a lightning pass through/daisy chain dongle. Charging while listening to earbuds is pretty common at the end of the day for anyone that watches video or plays games regularly.

Well no, he didn't.
If he doesn't want an iPhone then fine. It doesn't bother me or anyone else if someone goes Android. Heck, I went Android for two-years and hated every second of it.
