Tell me about it. Like I said earlier a darn vizio 65in lcd screen was around 2400 when I bought in 2015. Sold it for 60 bucks the past Jan. 
still worked fine.
Tbh, I saw a TCL Qled at my daughter they bought around 6 months ago. Looking back I would have bought that tv in a heart beat for under 500 instead of the 1500$ Sony. The picture was still very nice on that TCL.

I got a 65 inch Insignia from Best Buy for $250, seems fine to me but I’ve mostly just watched soccer so far

Old Timer here and need some help choosing. Money not an issue, but I can't see purchasing something I don't really need. Below is a comparison of 4 TV's from Best Buy I'm looking at purchasing, Leaning toward the Samsung M70H, or M80H (upgrade of 70). I'm open to any suggestions.
Now for the criteria, as I said I'm older and don't watch much "modern" shows and NO gaming. Mostly sports and old programming. I recently cut streaming and will be using YTTV Sports package this fall.
This TV is going in my hide away room I go to to watch sports and the ball and chain leaves me alone. I sleep there for late games and if we're pissed off
I watch a lot of old movies and westerns using an legacy Tablo device. I can stream sports through the Tablo or Roku stick. This TV will also have pretty good antenna reception by it's location, other rooms not so good, thus the Tablo.
Any suggested choice of the 4 or a new option?

The difference that I see that makes the price jump at the LG 84B is the faster refresh rate. The three lower cost TVs have 60 hz refresh rates, while the LG on your list has 120 hz. When watching the slow moving vibrant images in the store that doesn’t make a difference. But for sports it will be a noticeable difference in a 65 inch screen.
My TV use sounds much like yours. I stream old movies on Criterion Channel and watch sports. No gaming, etc. For the sports, the faster refresh rate makes a massive difference. I don’t want to lose sight of the ball or puck because the TV can’t keep up with the speed of the action.
In my (worthless) opinion, from the four you are considering, for a space that is primarily for you watching what you want to watch, generally from a single best location seat, I would splurge and get the LG Class 84B ($699).
You said you were considering as an upgrade choice the Samsung M80 ($649). That would be a great choice, along with the TCL QM6 ($549). Both give the you the faster refresh. In your price point and usage, my choice would be between these two.

Thanks, I'm looking at purchasing within the next 30 days or so and have enough time to break in my eyeballs and remote thumb by September 5th. I'll absolutely go with the faster refresh speed.

In addition I looked into Costco and am sure to buy this model. I'll go look at them today in person and try to compare with the others on the list at BestBuy.
In addition Costco is running a sale on this model up to 98" and they
re the PRO models which has a better anti-glare panel.
My deal from Costco should I purchase is TCL 65" Class QM6K Pro.
Comes with free delivery to any room in the house and free 3 yr. All-State protection plan for 5 years of total coverage. PRICE $529.99.
Sale is for all sets up to 98" and ends 19 July.
