Tillman was all over the midfield.
This game was the first time I ever really watched Tillman. Is he locked into representing the US and is there any concern about a switch to Germany. He was very impressive.

There are plenty of reasons why that may have been the case but the simple fact is neither were able to step up in class from the Eredivisie.
No one is disputing that.
But I think their reasons for not ever latching on to a top league was more due to circumstance compared to them being shite talents.
During that era (meaning before Euro clubs were signing American teenagers to their academies), fit was very important when it comes to Americans make the transition and surviving overseas.
Jozy was a more complete striker than both Wynalda and McBride, but injuries and volatile club situations fricked him up.

Nope, he filed a one-time switch from Germany to USA.
He's American.

Wynalda
Hung out with him and Harkes for 5 days on a movie set. Everyday at lunch I asked so many questions about the 98 WC. They gave insight into how much Sampson was a failure and the players despising him. Wynalda shared about the wild night of Ernie Stewart throwing his half drunken wine bottle at Sampson (almost hitting him) when he was on his hotel balcony the night they lost to Yugoslavia.

Did you ask Harkes his opinion on Waldo's wife?

Man, glad I didn’t know about that then.

Roger Bennett did an awesome podcast series on the 1998 World Cup. Definitely did not get the impression that the players despised him from that, and they did not cover the wine bottle throwing. Honestly surprised those two were on set together given what happened.

They didn't act like best friends.
Wynalda was such a hot head, taking off his shirt and juggling & running sprints in front of the extras in between shots.
Nelson Vargas was there too and acted like he was top shelf quality.
Harkes was genuinely kind to people, quiet, and helped the movie stars on the side who didn't know a lick of soccer (Wes Bentley mainly).

What does that mean? Like he was egotistical?
I honestly didn’t know who he was and had to use wiki

Somewhat, yeah. But to be honest, a lot of people were. I guess it's fit for the environment.
Although Gavin Rossdale was pretty cool and relaxed. He still owes me 5 dollars to this day for beating him in a penalty kick contest.

Yesterday Konrad de la Fuente entered Olympiacos' Europa League game with the score tied on aggregate 2-2 in the 80th or so minute. It went to pk's and he hit his and Olympiacos advanced.

Is he playing for one of their youth teams?
Posted on 8/26/22 at 3:21 pm to OldmanBeasley
Yeah I don’t see how that’s a good thing

He is playing for the youth team, but it’s better to score a brace there than have a bad game if that’s where you are playing.
Posted on 8/26/22 at 3:43 pm to Dawgsontop34
Yea but it’s not a great sign that he’s playing for the youth team especially when the senior side has a game tomorrow.
