We need to add Danny Barbir to our list of Americans Abroad/young Americans to follow. He was originally a forward but moved back to central defense. His touch is fantastic, he makes smart runs forward at times, is a force in the air, and makes wonderful passes forward.

Be sure to check out the highlights linked in the ASN article.
He used to be with Man City but recently signed with WBA, as the only foreigner in their youth set up, because they see him as a legit prospect who they would like to get to the first team ASAP.

Rumors that JAB is either about to get sent to the reserves for the year or cut.
Posted on 9/28/14 at 7:39 pm to hendersonshands
If he gets cut I bet he finds a team pretty soon without any problem, but obviously not a promising revelation. Where are you hearing these rumors?
Posted on 9/28/14 at 9:06 pm to hendersonshands
I didn't even realize that people got cut, rather than being shopped around or had their contract ended "by mutual consent."

Bjorn Maars Johnsen?
Don't follow these prospects as much as most of you guys but I just read in Calciomercato that this 22yo striker currently playing in the Portuguese 2nd division has peaked the interest of Benfica.

Yeah I don't really know much about this guy but I heard about him last week. Jurgen should probably get on it.

Never heard of Bjorn Maars Johnson? Don't worry—you're not alone. The 22-year-old Norwegian-American striker has never suited up in the United States and currently plays for Atletico CP, a small team in Portugal’s second tier.
Obscurity may become a thing of the past for the North Carolina native who spent the majority of his youth in Norway. He is the leading scorer in Portugal’s Segunda Liga with nine goals in seven games, and he has 11 tallies in all competition. This past week alone he struck four times in two games, including two goals in Atletico CP’s 4-2 loss to Sporting Braga II on Sunday.
Maars Johnsen played in Spain in 2012 and headed to Portugal in 2013, and he has always in the lower leagues. If he maintains his current form, however, he will likely be snapped up by a top division team in January.

There is a thread over on the Arsenal subreddit asking if we should pick him up if he does actually get cut because of our depth issues.

shite I would take him in a heart beat for depth purposes.

So Ibarra is 24 and is in the NASL. Hmmm...

Is Zardes getting any looks? I'm surprised a NASL striker would get called up ahead of someone who has 14 goals in a higher division.

Rubio Rubin made at least one Eredivisie team of the weak. LINK The poorly google translated version is this:
Apparently Jozy Altidore turned down an offer to join MLS over the Summer, opting to tough it out in England. LINK
Agudelo is training with Orlando City to keep fit.

In the United States, the expectations are high and FC Utrecht think you have achieved. Player in a future home Against Go Ahead Eagles left Rubin at times to see what he has in store. The light-hearted Americans accounted for two assists and was a constant pest to the defense of the club from Deventer. The pass eighteen Rubin is very changeable, but clearly has a lot of talent .

Agudelo was linked with Sporting Lisbon over the summer. The New England Revolution, which retained his MLS rights upon his departure from the league last winter, looked into reacquiring Agudelo before the roster deadline last month before landing Jermaine Jones, a prized addition. Early this year, Anderlecht was floating an 18-month deal worth $1.4 million for Agudelo. The latest rumbling has New York City FC, a 2015 MLS expansion side, angling for his services.
Another twist: He is apparently seeking to acquire an EU passport by buying property in Cyprus.

Jozy on his situation at Sunderland: "If it doesn't turn around, in January then I'll be looking to start elsewhere."

Agudelo Gets Trial with Wolverhampton
quote:
A source with knowledge of the situation also stated that Bundesliga side Werder Bremen had made an offer, but Agudelo turned it down because he prefers to play in England.
quote:
The Washington Post reported on Sunday that Agudelo is pursuing a European Union passport by acquiring property in Cyprus.
quote:
In terms of Agudelo's relationship with Wolves, one source confirmed that the club views his stay in England as a trial as opposed to just a training stint. At present, Agudelo is free to train and participate in under-21 matches, and is scheduled to take part in Friday's match against Queens Park Rangers' Development Squad.
Because Agudelo isn't being paid by the club, his presence there doesn't qualify as work. Instead his trial is seen as an interview ahead of securing a move, allowing him to be in the country without a work permit.

If true he dumb.
But I hope to see him playing soon.
