How in the actual frick did Brazil lose to this particular Croatian team. Unreal.
Croatia has a guy named Modric who has unlocked a Pirlo level of soccer wizardry. Underestimate him and his team at your own peril.

If Portugal win it won't be cuz of Ronaldo

Idk how you can root against Croatia. Hope they win the whole thing
I don’t enjoy watching their style of play. It makes it pretty easy to root against them.

True, but they're kind of like Atletico at this point. You have to admire their defensive play for being so well drilled.
On the whole, I think Morocco is the most impressive defensive side in terms of spacing. They are superb at cutting off angles into central areas.
Modric really allows Croatia to hold the ball against all odds. He's honestly the perfect central midfielder. He can run all day, he can play with basically any midfield partner, he can recycle possession, and he is superb as a passer. He's absolutely a top ten midfielder of all time.

Funny looking back on that opening group stage match loss to Saudi Arabia now. Probably exactly what they needed.

Remember when La Liga named Modric as the worst signing?
The streets remember.

How did we not hear the word “clinical” throughout that entire shootout?

One of the Croatian players kids ran away from the team to talk to Neymar
A Brazil security guard stopped him
Neymar grabbed the kid and talked to him

Idk if this is a troll but your boy isn't even one of the top 50 best players anymore.

This hits hard. I feel the same, makes me sad the era of greats i grew up with are aging out along with myself

He is having a bad year for sure. But he was playin in the best league in the world last year and was on the top list of goal scorers. Messi playing in a league a step better than the mls shows he doesn’t have the balls to do it with the best

Usually teams with the best central midfielders will get close or win the tournament. At least that has been the case since 2006, when an absolutely loaded Italian team won. Since then, it has been generally the teams with the best midfielders, although you can make an argument about the 2018 Croatian midfield being better than the 2018 French midfield, although having Kante and Pogba as the midfield axis, on paper, is a crazy good midfield.
