Like I said: if Brazil can make Japan start playing their game, they will tear them apart.
Right now Japan has abandoned the disciplined style that makes them so formidable.

As a casual observer that knows next to nothing about soccer. How do the top national teams compare to the top club teams?

Think of it like the Pro Bowl.
A team of All-Pros are going to beat the Cleveland Browns. May not embarrass them (but it's highly probable), but they will not struggle too much to win.

Brazil is gonna win 2-1 it's just a matter of time. Japan cant keep them out their box.

So the best of the best on the national team but maybe not as fined tuned as a top club team?

Top club teams would kill most national teams except the absolute best 3 maybe? And even then most top club teams are formed of the best players money can buy in a given position and they play together for much longer then players get to train and play together on a national team.

Except the players try, tackling is allowed, and players dont opt out.

But like the Pro Bowl in Hawaii when they actually tried to play a somewhat legit football game

Gotcha. So the top club teams would be Brady era Patriots playing an all star team from say the NFC West.

National teams are also reliant on having a proper scouting network and, for some nations, convincing players with multiple nationalitites to play for that particular country.

The French national team could win any league in the world.

Basically.
They don't train extensively with each other. The National Teams are just side gigs that they sporadically go play a game for if their club allows.
That's why during friendlies and Qualifying you don't get a regular lineup.

It's like Louisiana, Texas, & California trying to convince Drew Brees to play for their state football team
Or Louisiana & Ohio fighting over Joe Burrow

Vini is so fricking sick when he turns it on
This is why I picked them as my dark horse.
I get it, Brazil being a dark horse, but they haven't really been good for 20 years.
You've got the spine of Alisson, Gabriel, marquinhos, Casemiro, Bruno. And Ancelotti was going to allow Vini to be the man.

Interesting. So an Army brat with an American Father and a German mother could play for either country.

Come on cameraman, it’s Brazil you can do better than that.
