I missed the start of the game. How is Iran's reception?
Fun fact: Los Angeles and specifically Beverly Hills and the Westwood neighborhoods are home to what I understand is the largest Iranian diaspora in the world.

It is very likely that over 80% of the fans at this game are cheering for Iran.

teams just sandbagging because they have more margin for error or what

Makes me feel even better than I already did after 4-1. Being lesser teams isnt so easy after all.

As long as they don’t criticize the regime, they should be ok.

Today I learned New Zealand and Australia come from different qualification groups.

Had to look up who the 190th ranked team New Zealand beat to qualify

It was Somoa.

I have to give Australia credit for giving up a cakewalk to qualify.

Yeah they did that 20ish years ago.

I’m shocked the OFC is still a thing. Needs to end that misery and merge into the AFC.

Australia moved to Asia a couple cycles ago so they could actually compete against competition with a pulse.

NZ qualified by beating Fiji and New Caledonia in Oceania final qualifying round… By a combined 10 goals

Safe to say New Zealand should be at every World Cup going forward

This is the first year OFC has had a qualifier since 2010 and that is only because of the expanded field.

It’s a dead conference either way.

Beautiful attack there. Well deserved goal for New Zealand.
