Liverpool was not a household sports name in America ~5 years ago.

keep digging a deeper hole
The 30 for 30 came out 5 years ago, that alone lets people who don't know shite about the club have some knowledge and recognize the name.

people who chose to support liverpool 5 years ago were so, so brave. might as well have chosen blackpool.

If you didn't live through the brink of administration then claiming you went through the tough times is delusional

Never claimed anything about enduring the tough times. I simply stated facts about when and why I chose to support Liverpool.
I’m sorry you’re butthurt about it, I truly am. It’s nothing to get upset about

No one has an issue with you picking Liverpool
but this stuff you had no idea they were one of the most successful and popular clubs in the world is nonsense.
you cant watch a Liverpool match without hearing about their history. Which I would think is a good thing
The rest of my post are towards pville bc he's a dumbass

I'm still trying to figure out what team to support outside of the US. Based on this thread, mainstream teams aren't cool these days. You bunch of American outlaw "rebelling against mainstream sports" frickwads. Way to sell the sport.

Went with my college gf (now wife) to visit her family in England and her family were fans of two teams, which I got to go to see both play in person. Hooked after that.
Sheffield Wednesday was their hometown team and a favorite of her Dad. Great history as a team and the grounds (for good and the bad) .
Manchester United was her Mother's and sisters team and at the time (2000) was the season after winning the treble, so they were on top of the world.
I've got a soft spot for Newcastle, and usually root for them also.

They won the champions league in 05
Runners up in 07
Semi finalists in 08 and 2010
Fenway Sports group bought the team in 2010
It’s been more than 5 years since Americans have known about it.
I’d give ya 10 MAYBE
But still a massive name.

Stoke: there were 3 or so Americans on the team at the time. Plus I like that they were huge underdogs and hated by a lot of people.

Sunderland-Because I’m stupid and I hate myself.
Jozy had signed, thought the club had nowhere to go but up....
All the Newcastle fans I know are douches.
