Atlanta United: they are my local team

I like Everton as well, but following non domestic stuff has lost interest from me since ATL UTD showed up.

ETA: also a die hard supporter of Rassenballsport Leipzig, a true people’s club.

I saw Chelsea defeat Blackburn 3-0 in 1989. They have been my team ever since.

My first cousin was a big Chelsea fan, I didnt really get hardcore into soccer until the 2014 world cup, but after that I was hooked. I pulled for Chelsea because he did then he died so after that it was a lock for me.

Tottenham Hotspur: I appreciate the fact they're an underdog that competes in the top 4. Love their core players like Kane, Eriksen, Son, and Dele. Hope to visit north London one day to visit the new stadium. Also they've had a few Americans play for them like Brad Friedel and Clint Dempsey.

Everton and Atletico Madrid are other clubs that I admire as well. Hope to visit Goodison Park and the Wanda Metropoltiano one day.

Imagine getting upset over someone explaining why they support the teams they do, which is you know, the point of the thread.

Little ol Liverpool mid table side you picked

You can think whatever you want. I don’t know any Americans that would start watching soccer this year and expect to know all about United’s history. They would just assume they’re a mid table side with a big stadium.

When I “picked a team” Liverpool were 7th in the table. I had no idea about their past. I almost fell for Newcastle for the same reasons. Thankfully I kept watching

what a crock of bullshite

United and Liverpool are two of the biggest brands in the world, not just soccer but in all of sports.

people who don't even give a shite about the game know who they are

you can't watch a United or Liverpool match without hearing about their history.

I think you overestimate how much soccer crosses over into the mainstream sports culture in America.

You are an idiot

Names like Manchester United, Liverpool, Barca and Madrid are house hold sports names in general.

Just like when traveling abroad and people who don't know shite about American sports have heard of the Yankees, Lakers and Cowboys.
