I’ve been watching the sport for a while, intermittently posting on this board but now more while I’m on garden leave.
I’ve never picked a team, this year I say Bristol, we’ll see how long that lasts

But why do you support the team you do?

For me it’s been a colleague I’ve mine I worked with since I got here. Few years older than me, sat next to me for 5 years, from Bristol England
Told me about where he goes Saturday mornings. And now I’m going to try and hop on that wagon

ETA: Bristol is known for their cider and is home to Blackthorn
I enjoy cider and that is what the fans drink

Liverpool - Randomly picked them after narrowing it down.
Gladbach - Seemed to have some connection with Liverpool, the long arse name, and Fabian Johnson.
Atlanta United - Self explanatory.
Birmingham Legion - Self explanatory.

Tottenham - was looking for a team to follow after the 2010 World Cup. Peter Crouch and Rafael Van Der Vaart sold me. Also really liked the logo.

Liverpool - senior year of high school I’d get home from school and throw on Fox Soccer Channel, happened to watch Fernando Torres in a few games for Liverpool and thought he was fun to watch. Didn’t follow them closely at all up until after the 2018 WC, decided I’d make an effort to follow Premier League and Liverpool.

Inter Milan - always picked them in FIFA ‘06, good history, and always liked their kits.

Borrusia Dortmund - don’t catch all of their games, but it’s just who I pull for in Bundesliga. Parents got me a jersey when they went to Germany in 2013. Added bonus is it’s Klopp’s old team.

Don’t follow La Liga, mainly bc it’s hard to catch on TV. Don’t follow MLS closely either for some reason.

On a trip to London I couldn’t get tickets to an arsenal CL match, decided on a tour of Stamford bridge instead bc it was closer to where I was staying. It felt like home and I fell in love. Was this close to being a gooner though

I saw Marcelo Bielsa at a store in Bilbao when I was in Spain 7-8 years ago. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything. He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?” I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face.

I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying.

The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.

When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical interference,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s an issue when checking shite out.

After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

Tottenham- Same way I picked the Spurs as my basketball team in 2001, cause it sounded like Spurrier.

To be fair, I did see Tim Duncan play at Wake a few times as well.

Really started following Spurs in 2016, was nice to pick a contender that wasnt a huge bandwagon.

Tottenham - Constantly underachieving compared to their arch rival, falls on their face when they seemingly have a shot at glory. Mascot is a rooster. Seemed easy as a South Carolina fan.

Real Madrid- always been interested in Spain and Spanish culture, love tradition, and Ronaldo is my favorite player (started watching in 2009 right when he left ManU) and Sergio Ramos is way up there. It was a perfect combination.

Orlando City- started watching MLS when they moved up and they had Kaka. My mother in law lives in Orlando as well. Felt natural.

I’m an arsenal supporter because existence is pain and I enjoy being reminded of this fact at least once a week from August through May.

For the MLS guys that root for a team that isn’t local, but there’s a possibility that one comes.
Would you jump?

I casually watch MLS. Don’t have a team. I attend NYCFC games, tons of fun.
But I’m not a fan. But if NC United become a team I will gladly adopt them because that’s where I’m from.
(Well CLT not Raleigh)

I found City on an old FIFA game back in high school, so like 2006 as World Cup fever was hitting, and chose to play with them solely because their colors were the same as my high school. I played like every sport and was your typical high school hero.

Eventually I learned some of the players just throughout the soccer world from FIFA and just became interested in the professional scene in general. It wasn’t until shortly after the takeover that I actually started following the club week in and week out though.

I didn’t know any other soccer fans so nobody ever talked shite to me about it. Eventually I stumbled across this site and hated SCH immediately because of how much of a c*nt he was about City fans. About two years ago and before that, SCH and I used to frick up pretty much every match day thread because I’d get so worked up about his shite spewing.

Finally, one day he came to Dallas and we bro’d down and have been great friends ever since. So much so that i trolled him into my avatar pic.

The first time I answered this question I was berated and laughed at lol. But at least I didn’t just look up which clubs are American owned and/or the most decorated in the league to support (Not saying that every American Liverpool/United fan has done that, but plenty have).
