FWIW Randy Savage's dad was an Italian-American and his mother was Jewish.

When America is not being represented by Americans it kinda defeats the whole purpose.

I haven't seen any USMNT player ever named Soaring Eagle or Strong Buffalo.

This is an insanely hypocritical comment unless your name is Plays With Squirrels or the like.

Wondalaski (sp) should change his name to that. Hell, it would be easier to spell

I kind of get his point, not in a racist way, just in a we don't really wanna become Mexico Team North kind of way. It'll really hurt the growth of the game if soccer starts to become reperceived(i know that's not a word) as a primarily hispanic game. Plus the actual Mexico team has a ceiling that I think we'd all like the US team to eclipse.

That being said if you look at the roster and recent call ups for the u20 squad the team isn't that hispanic heavy. It's just most of our starting attacking players are hispanic

If the WC team in 2022 has 19/22 Hispanics I think you'd see alot of people start trotting out that stance again. But my point was the team won't have that sort of makeup, this particular u-20 team just seems that way bc it's big name players are all hispanic

the frick would it matter if the team was all mexican-americans? they are all still americans.

i somehow very much doubt the racial background of any of our teams impacting the popularity of the sport at all...especially considering people who identify themselves of latino or spanish descent are becoming a very large demographic in this country.

if you can ball, you can ball. frick the racists and the haters.

I just want the best team possible. If you can bring that to the table come on board.

exactly. everyone who puts that uniform on is representing his country. the pigment in their skin can never change that.

Yep, those kids with Hispanic last names, regardless of where they were born, don't deserve to play for the U.S. Bet all of them had parents that were illegals.

Take a look at the French U20 team. They have many black players and I'm sure they are eligible to play for other countries.

Jim Thorpe probably could have played for the USMNT.

Yea but France's most hated rival isn't Algeria or Ghana.
