Mr. Personality must’ve gotten himself locked up again, and both he & McCrayBoi69 stopped posting selfies, and TNBhoy must’ve kilted himself after rangers won the league. It was all downhill from there.

think that TV distribution in the US has handicapped even EPL for Americans until recently. What channel, what package, what year? Even worse for non EPL teams. Even today, is it on USA, peacock, or P+ (far better sitch.)

Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but I think it’s an actually way easier and more accessible to watch the PL in the US than it is in the UK.

I watch as a complete neutral. Now I may favor certain teams at times, but there’s not one specific team I care more about than others.

is it acceptable to have a favorite team in the Premier League and the Championship? What if both teams end up in the Premier League for the same season(s)? Is it okay if they are not rivals?

Yes. In fact, I’d say it’s good for American newcomers to watch a little, form opinions on teams over the season, then choose a Big 6 club and then a smaller club (maybe even more than one) to support.

Man City is really the only bad pick at the moment, the bandwagon is far and gone. Maybe only if your sibling is a big Man United fan.

Man Utd caught my attention in the late 90’s and I still follow them exclusively. Even when they are shite which is often.

Also a Cubs fan since the mid 80’s.

Being from Louisiana, there’s zero difference between the two.

Why is this such an awkward thing in the footy world? “Plastic” is such a loaded word, and gets thrown around quite aggressively in the fan culture.

Arsenal fan. I don’t have a relegation-level side I’m a big fan of right now—closest is Luton Town—but being a fan of a relegation side is also a thing if you sare a fan of a “big” club.

I went to grad school in London about 20 years ago (lived in the Bloomsbury neighborhood, all Arsenal fans), and didn’t know anything about the premier league. I had heard of Manchester United, but I didn’t know anything.

People in the area were all Arsenal fans, so it made me curious. And I was quickly hooked.

Fast forward two decades, I travel over to the Emirates for games and bring friends of mine. The Arsenal fans LOVE to see American fans of their club. I have been offered free tickets from numerous people, exchanging contact info, etc.

I’m sure the online debate is quite different. But show up at the stadium singing and chanting with an American accent and you’ll be a celebrity that day

Wolves got mid

But yeah the Premier League is 20 clubs technically, but really 6 or 8, whoever is capable of being the best club in the world at a given moment

I just own it with them

I'm not from the neighborhoods and I didn't grow up with the club as a central piece of my life. I have taken trips to Goodison and I have enjoyed learning a lot over the years about Liverpool and exploring it.

But ultimately it's not my home, my second home, or even a city I particularly care deeply about. I'm an extremely conservative Southerner who pulls for a socialist soccer team.

In general they're pretty happy to have American fans, although I'm sure they're annoyed if you constantly act like you're living the exact same highs and lows they are.

Similar experience for me. I’ve only been to the Emirates/Highbury one time and I’ve been a diehard fan since 1999. I definitely could be considered a bandwagon fan because I started supporting them when they were one of the most entertaining teams in the Premier League. To be fair any given weekend back then Fox Soccer and Setanta Sports only showed Arsenal, Liverpool or United regularly so you basically had those options. I used to have a soft spot for Middlesborough.

The smaller clubs appreciate our interest in my experience. I was in England for 2 weeks earlier this year. Spent some time touring The Den and the Millwall folks were lovely. Had lunch at the Millwall Cafe and they were just as nice and really interested in how an American made his way to South Bermondsey. Same with Huddersfield. We were waiting on a train to Thirsk and had some time so we went to John Smith Stadium. They've had a fall from grace and are now in League 1 so they appreciate any sources of revenue that they get.

Yep no 3pm Saturday matches on tv at all. It encourages people to attend matches and go see their local

The EPL used to be much easier to watch in America when every match was on regular tv. Peacock kind of ruined that
