Doesn't feel like it (since technically the tournament should already be over), but we're only 3 months away from the World Cup.

A lot can still change in that time, especially with a lot of club matches to go in those 3 months, but lets go ahead and predict who we think the 26 players will be now and so how right or wrong we were in November.

GK (3): Turner, Steffen, Johnson
DEF (8): Robinson, Dest, Zimmerman, Richards, Long, Carter-Vickers, Yedlin, Scally
MID (6): Adams, McKennie, Musah, Acosta, De La Torre, Ledezma
FWD (9): Pulisic, Reyna, Weah, Aaronson, Arriola, Ferreira, Tillman, Pefok, Wright

I bolded who I think are locks to make it to Qatar, barring injury.

Is there a law in Qatar about his name being on his jersey though?

I don’t think Ferreria makes the squad.
Not blowing it up like he did last year.

Pefok and Dike (if healthy) make the team.

Gregg mentioned that European based players get more attention than mls the other day.

Are you thinking of Pepi?

Ferreira has 12 goals this season. He also has 7 goals for the USMNT since 2021, which is the most of any other striker in that span.

Not to mention he plays how Gregg wants the striker to play. Ferreira is a lock.

Dike (if healthy)

Even if he is healthy, which it looks like he won't be considering he just had another serious injury it appears, what has Dike shown you to be on the squad?

Yea. My bad.
That’s who I was thinking of.

Dike plays a powerful style, which Gregg likes, as he can run and hold the ball allowing ppl to run off him.

I think I agree with most here, except:
- Replace Ledezma with Tillman
- Replace Tillman at forward with Morris
- Replace Wright with either Pepi/Vasquez.

I’m not sold on Richards, Long, or even Arriola being locks but I think there is a very solid chance they make it. I also think Steffen, based on current form, could play himself off the roster. I would vote for Horvath to make it in his stead.

Gregg also talked about Zardes. I am beginning to think something is broken with Steffen. I am going out on a limb and saying Horvath will replace Steffen on the opening list not sure who gets the starters nod, probably Turner. I will also say that Pepsi will not be on the squad.

He has 12g/5a so far this year. He finished last season 8g/9a.

Only 3 players in MLS have better stats (Vasquez being one of them). Gregg loves him, he presses relentlessly, and he is a fit for he system. He is a lock.

ETA: I see now you confused him for Dike

I think Horvath still has a shot at Goalkeeper

On defense we have the same 8. I also have Erik Palmer-Brown.

In the midfield, I have everyone you listed except Ledezma.

In attack, I have the exact same list except Jordan Morris instead of Tillman. However if Tillman keeps playing well with Rangers, I can certainly see that.

Tillman has a better chance at making it right now than Ledezma. PSV is still sporadically playing Ledezma, while Rangers is going to run their Bayern loanee into the ground.

I think both make it, but honestly, there is probably a better chance that Gregg calls in Roldan over both of them for midfield depth, locker room presence.

Vasquez definitely has a shot if he keeps this up. Pepi I think is way off right now, but that can change if he gets legit minutes again.

With Richards, I'm sold on because of Miles' injury obviously, but also even when Miles was healthy it was very telling that Gregg started Richards over him in a must win home qualifier against Costa Rica.

Long, I don't think should be a lock, but Gregg values him and was calling him up even when he wasn't fully recovered.

Kinda feel the same way with Arriola, although I think he provides a verticality that can be a very useful tactic change in the 2nd half of a match if we're chasing a goal.

If Horvath wasn't kind of broken himself, I'd agree. This is the weakest we've ever been at GK and Gregg likes GK's who can play the ball out. Steffen definitely isn't great at it, but he is the best we got, and because of that Gregg values him big time.

I just don’t see Ledezma getting a call since he had no role in qualifying, isn’t doing a ton with his club yet, and isn’t a dual national who made a deal with the head coach.

It would take a total meltdown on Steffens part (he's on his way there apparently) to get totally dropped. Greggg loves him some Steffen.

I think yedlin is probably a lock given the larger roster and otherwise complete lack of WC experience. For the same reason I think Ream would go over someone like CCV. And sadly I think.

Turner really needs to play this fall or our GK are looking bleak.

I just don't see it.

Ream hasn't been called up since the first qualifying window. If he was still in the plans, he definitely would've been called in for nations league.

I feel pretty safe in thinking one of CCV or EPB is called in as one of the backup CBs.

Here is Doug McIntyre's list. He has Vasquez making it, and has Ream in over CCV.

I'm fine with him being there since we have to take 3 GKs, but no chance I want him seeing the field at all in Qatar

Yeah I don't see it for Ledezma. It will be tough for both as they are both wingers and that is probably our deepest position

If we are looking at a long shot 8, then it might be Mendes who is a regular starter at Vizela. But that is a very long shot and right now Roldan makes it before him

For you soccer historians is this the best US has ever been at midfield and wingers? Seems like it to me.

Defense seems solid enough although the M Robinson loss hurts the CB depth (and he may have been a starter most games).

Seems like the shakiest part of the team are at the ends - keeper and striker. No biggie. Lol
