Yet this has been happening for years in soccer jersey designs going hand in hand. Dunno why the haters keep ignoring this. Its a soccer kit simple enough. That and it won't fit like a golf polo. Unless the polo is on tiger cicra 4 years ago. Soccer jerseys and golf polo used to be big and baggy with big arse collars.
The collar give the professional and classy look that also can go with tennis,golf and wealth. Two thing associated with class esp in the UK(home of football/Umbro).

I don't give a rats arse about what goes on in the uk in regards to the USMNT or their kit.
All white with buttons and collar looks like a golf polo. And that's just a fact.

As much as I liked the waldos, I would never buy one because I wouldn't get enough wear out of it. This new shirt is much more wearable, and I'll be buying one for that very reason. I'm pretty sure that's Nike's logic.

They´re probably hidden (I doubt that´s a velcro closure). They may even be rubber or of some type of polymer (like rugby shirts).

I am a huge collar fanboy, but something about these just doesn't sit right. Its sort of along the lines of the polo argument, but not quite. I don't know what it is, it just doesn't strike me as a proper football shirt.

There's definitely a button at the top, it's just hidden under a piece of fabric. My point was just that you won't see the button on the players.

I like Italy's version much better. It's also a very different type of collar.
