Sounds like normal, run of the mill soccer to me if you’re just defending teams into pockets higher up the field. Anyone calling that counter attacking is stupid.

I think Robinson has a great future.
All the intangibles you need.

If Reynolds actually sticks at Roma and becomes a regular starter, dest will flip over to the left and push Robinson to the bench. I like Robinson, but he is one of the three clear weaknesses in that starting roster (along with a CB to pair with brooks and Forward). I think you could argue musah is also a weak spot in that starting XI. He is still largely being pencilled in based on what we project him to be. If he falters though Aaronson is really a bright prospect.

Based on what?

He has been one of our four best players in every match he has played with the USMNT.

Yeah Musah has consistently been very good for us. Valencia needs to stop dicking around and putting him at winger. Dude is a natural 8.

Based on the fact he’s an 18 year old with less than 2,000 first team starting minutes to his name. Clearly he’s one of the brightest prospects in the player pool, but there is a long way to go for Musah.

What does that have to do with how he has played with the USMNT?

He hasn't shown that yet in his USMNT appearances. Will he have bad matches wearing the crest? Sure, but so will literally everyone else.

Fact of the matter is that Musah fits perfectly in with one with McKennie as the dual shuttling 8's and as long as he keeps performing the way he does in that role, then he should be one of the first names written on that team sheet.

In fact, his club form doesn't mean shite because he plays a completely different position with Valencia.

I like Robinson more and more, I think he’s developed a ton this season, and displayed that in our most recent friendlies. Could someone (e.g. Reynolds or Vines) force him out as they develop, sure. But Robinson is coming along, too.

Now the question is where will he play next season.

Yep. You have to think he’s helped himself and can stay in a top 5 league, but still lots of uncertainty.

I understand what you’re saying, but I’m not going to gnash my teeth about playing out of the back at this point. He’s trying to build an identity, and we have pretty good personnel to do it with. Execution has steadily improved in the various friendlies this year.

But look, if we get eaten alive in WCQ matches because of an unwillingness to adjust, then I’ll be pissed. But to me, I’m expecting Gregg to be plenty smart enough to adjust if he has to.

The thing is that type of player and system has to be instilled at a very young age when developing players for a national team. The clubs and the national team set up have to be all in on that play style and developing players into that while they progress through

That’s why Spain was so successful at it, that takes a total system buy in. Our players were not brought up for it.

It’s also why you don’t see a bunch of national teams do it, bc you have a bunch of players who have been developed under different philosophies.

I already said it will work against shitty CONFCAF sides, but against quality sides with good managers not to much.

It’s all good bruh. I’m just a “gotta see it to believe it” kinda guy.

It’s like LSU fans in the offseason when they had Jordan Jefferson playing QB. Every offseason you’d hear “Jefferson has turned the corner....Yeah, no.”
