I was there too! Most of the mexican fans here root for USA when they aren't playing us.

The true messicans hate us as much as we hate them though.

I don't watch the MLS a lot. But, isn't the Whitecaps D awful ?

Not at all. They have one of the best in the league this season.

I was under the impression that the other central defender pair up with DeMerit was really bad? Oh well, if he (DeMerit) is in good form, I wouldn't mind seeing him either.

Bit of an assumption to make eh? maybe they just want to give some of the young guys some experience.

No I actually assume he isn't going to retire. My opinion is he has no business playing for us given his age and the level he is playing at.

The 'Caps have nine shutouts this season, tied for third-best in the league.

I was always under the impression that Mexico had a weird, hate-respect relationship with Landon e.g. (paragraph about his Azteca reception)

I think Demerit is recovering from a (possible?) concussion.

My first thoughts looking at the lineup is that JK either doesn't care whether we win vs Mexico this time or doesn't believe we can so is using this as just an experience-building friendly.

Second thought is that we are weak at centerback (even with the first-choice guys) and JK is trying to find one new guy to bring into the next round of qualifying.

Overall, this is a strange lineup. Fiscal and Castillo have to be showing something in their league play that they haven't shown for the national team yet.

I'd say we give up a minimum of two goals and probably more b/c we aren't going to stop attacking.

Here is why Mexicans hate Landon Donovan: 1, 2, 3, 4. Also, I'm very concerned about the defense; but being a friendly, this game will provide some good experience for the new faces.

Beasley and Gomez are pretty good players in the mexican league. Could be solid choices.

Can't wait to see Brek Shea back in the stars and stripes
Also I'm assuming Dempsey and Altidore aren't playing because of their clubs starting up?

No doubt the additions of John O'Brien and Frankie Hedjuk will make the USMNT a force to be reckon with ...

That is easily the worst group of defenders I've ever seen in a USA squad not in January. We're going to get embarrassed.

Brek Shea... has not been playing well enough to merit a callup.

I was also at that 2011 semifinal. The Mexican fans were nice to us but assholes to the Hondurans (who they were playing). Many of them wore (knockoff) US jerseys.

I also went to the final where there were many Mexican-Americans being total assholes to US fans.

I stayed after the USA game and hung out in the concourse area. They kept trying to get me to partake in chants for Mexico. I just kept telling that they were out of their fricking minds if they think I was going to do that shite.

I feel like this is such a random group of players. You got a few regulars like Donovan and Howard then guys like Gordon and Beithasour. I'm not sure what to expect really. Although it is a foregone conclusion that this team is pretty weak defensively so I guess I shouldn't expect us to shutout them down or anything.
