Looks like JK is going to put some of our young defenders through the proverbial fire (and smog, and beer cans, and bags of piss) for this game at the Azteca, bold but risky.

Also always good to see Run DMB back in the squad.

I'm really surprised at all of these, considering their seasons have either started or are starting 3 days after the friendly.

That is easily the worst group of defenders I've ever seen in a USA squad not in January. We're going to get embarrassed.

Dido, I'm really excited to see what Boyd looks like though, hopefully his goo form carries over.

I wouldn't say this group are the worst defenders in a long time, just the most inexperienced. Besler and Beithasour have been two of the best defenders in MLS (who are the Champions of Europe BTW). Geoff Cameron has had solid performances for the national team, only to be marred by an unlucky own goal, and a BS red card against Panama. Fabian Johnson will be the best defender on the field that day.

I'm surprised JK is so hesitant to recall big Jay DeMerit back into the fold.

Gonzalez, Gooch, boca, dolo, lichaj, demerit, ream, and Heath Pearce are all better than the entire group of defenders in the squad other than Cameron (who I rate) and Johnson who is not a natural defender.

I like that Joe Corona got the call for this game, he plays with a lot of the mexicans and I think he's got a lot of potential. I really wish Freddy Adu could get back in the mix though, I think he could help the team out.

Anyone know where stu bear is in his rehab?

]Well pencil in Cameron and Fab to go a full 90.

We have a bulbasaur on our roster?

No idea why Boca wasn't called in. Rangers won't need him every week for division 3 soccer.

No, but he is first team LB. I'm ok with Cameron too. I don't understand the love for fiscal. The dude gets so many fricking call ups. He is JK's Bornstein. He plays like 25% of the time, so it's a wasted roster spot

ETA: I'd really like to see a Boyd - Jozy combo. Might be too much of the same player, but both players are still very young and progressing much better. If these two players can get a repertoire with one another. It can be a very very deadly combo. I think it'd be the best combo of forwards in the CONCACAF.

Totally agree, he has shown me NOTHING, and I'm not sure what JK sees in him.

As far as I'm concerned boca has retired from the usmnt by deciding to stay with rangers.

Also, the Joe Corona thing is very interesting as well. He is part Messican and part American. While he plays in Mexico, it'll be interesting to see how the crowd takes to him. #1 piss bottle target.

It's a very bad move. He retires very soon, internationally.Year and half max. IMO. But, I'd rather have him than the other SCRUBS.

Donovan is in the squad, he is their most hated player ever.

True BUT he is on the downhill of his career and isn't as quite good. They will never forget about him, but still. Corona recently spurred them. Sooooo. Heat of the moment type of thing. maybe ?

Bit of an assumption to make eh? maybe they just want to give some of the young guys some experience.

Talked to some Messicans at the gold cup semis and asked them why they hated Donovan. The guy told me that he loved Donovan and that he pisses on soccer fields all the time so he doesn't get the hate. He was also Messican/American and those types tend to root for the USA when they aren't playing each other.
