I’m 56 & it’s the 1st time on this planet that I feel we have the talent and skill to do something significant. For decades if we made it this far, it felt like we were playing with house money and once we walk away it was a pat on the back, these guys, they’ve got their eyes on the prize.

The United States Men's National Team (USMNT) has not advanced to the knockout round in 4 consecutive World Cup appearances.
Their recent tournament appearances and progression results include:
2026 World Cup: Advanced to the knockout stage (clinched top of Group D after beating Australia).
2022 World Cup: Advanced to the Round of 16.
2018 World Cup: Failed to qualify.
2014 World Cup: Advanced to the Round of 16.
