I think this loss is worst than the 2010 and 2014 R16 losses by far. The 2002 Cinderella Quarterfinal team is still the gold standard.
Ranking teams
1. 2002
2. 2014
3. 2010
4. 2026
5. 1994
6. 2022
7. 2006

9. 1990

Coach can’t make them mentally tough. Some absolute boneheaded play out there.

That was delightful

It’s not Poch’s fault. The players didn’t show up today.

Poch made all the right moves. Can’t blame him for the players not stepping up. Hopefully the U20 team can get some help.
Did he? They dominated attacking play and we had one shot from open play. That’s fricking pathetic. Yeah the players were arse but where were the adjustments when it became immediately obvious we were in trouble.

Then how is it that raghead countries like Saudi Arabia are offering $250 million/year contracts to Premier League players?

Poch can’t even speak the language. Pulisic is male Simone Biles. Okay, I’ll stop.

Tbh I can't remember if gregggggg ever switch formations at half. Poch did what he could.

ill take 2010 over 2014. and this team is realistically better than both but you cant really rank them that way after tonight so i agree there.

You may want to read up on just how much money Saudi Arabia has.
We’re talking about the same people who blew billions on LIV just for fun.

Same as 2022
Not as talented as the best teams. Not as gritty as the teams that give talented teams trouble

2010 and 2014 was really a tie. I think their group stage result gave 2014 the nod to me but I agree. Tonight’s effort knocked 2026 almost below 1994 to me.

He pulled Dest and put Gio and changed the formation. We had all the momentum until the Goal Keeper and Ream went full retard.

At this point I think it is a cultural thing.
I know this is anecdotal, and perhaps it is different in cities that aren’t New Orleans, but kids in America don’t play soccer games for fun.
They play basketball unstructured and for fun. Same with football. Same with hockey. Progressively less and less with baseball.
But not soccer. Public fields are largely leased to youth leagues that often restrict access.
Kids participation in the sport is fully structured.
Until kids play soccer for fun in the US we will continue to mostly suck at soccer.

2010 probably should have won their knockout game.
2014 was a miracle to even be in it thanks to tim.
that was how i broke the tie.

There is something about our culture or geographic size or coaching or all of the above that make it just not in the cards.
I mean… yeah no shite. Soccer isn’t popular in the US and never will be. The World Cup is cool but watching a MLS game or USL game is like watching paint dry.
Football
Baseball
Basketball
All 3 of those shite on every other country.

Maybe with the 30 million illegals we just let in over the past 4 years they may have a crop of soccer players? Thats our only hope.
