So Musah was battling strep throat. That’s why he lacked some energy and was subbed off

El Salvador up 1-0 in Panama. If they could get a result that would be very nice.

I love him more now. I had strep twice my freshman year at LSU and both times it knocked me on my arse. I could barely eat much less curl in a wonder goal

Thought it was Musah with strep
Posted on 11/16/21 at 8:22 pm to Dawgsontop34
it’ll be real to me regardless
also fricking
at the pitch in edmonton being better than in kingston, where the temp never drops below 70 and it rains every day
also fricking

It’s a synthetic pitch, which we would have done much better for on tbh.
This game is very entertaining so far. Atiba Hutchinson is a scary man.

I’m as big of a proponent of natural grass as you’ll find, but when the game becomes a mix of soccer and basketball, I have a problem
I think this afternoon is influencing my opinion of seeing multiple passes strung together on the ground

So was a draw a good result today? I didn’t watch have been fighting a cold and fatigue today.

Not really. Easily could have lost. Jamaica had a goal disallowed that they are rightfully pissed about. Could have been 2-1.
In the grand scheme of things, draws on the road aren’t the end of the world but we should get 3 pt from Jamaica. We also blew a chance to go 3 pt ahead of Mexico and 2 of Canada.
Oh well. Still in a good spot 8 games in.

This is pretty damning from Matt Doyle re: Busio
LINK
Our midfield depth is really barren right now. This entire year (Friendlies, Nations League, Gold Cup, WCQ's) the only time we've seen a midfield not named Musah, McKennie or Adams excel at any point was Acosta as a #6 and only as a #6. When we play in an #8, like we did today in place of Musah, we quickly got overrun in the midfield because Acosta simply does not lack the skill to dribble past someone. It's so important to what we do on the attack in terms of creating a numbers advantage and it's something McKennie and Musah are so good at. Basically, we're at a point where those two need to stay healthy, else we're fricked for the immediate future (2021-2022).
- Busio can grow into being that, but right now he's a step slow and just doesn't have that physical nature to him.
- Lletget was thought to once be that a few years back, but now he just seems petrified anytime he gets the ball and now just an auto-back pass.
- Acosta, again, is a #6 and only a #6
- Maybe we need to see more of Luca but I'm not sold on him either. I know he looks dynamic in the Eredivise but we also have to consider that everyone's attacking prowess is inflated in that league.
- Caden Clark looked pretty meh this past week in the revelations cup where our U-20's finished dead last, including a loss to Mexico today.
- Injuries have totally destroyed Paxton Pomykal's development over the two years, and Dallas has been playing him more on the wing now anyway.
- Can we tell Nagbe that Jurgen and Bruce aren't coaching anymore and maybe he will come back?
quote:
As of the 60th minute he hadn’t registered a tackle, interception or a foul. Worse yet is that he hadn’t registered a single duel as per Opta, which is almost impossible for a central midfielder. That lack of midfield confrontation speaks to how uninvolved he was – how the Reggae Boyz didn’t even feel his presence – and explains, to a pretty good degree, why the US midfield struggled to dominate the game the way they’d managed against El Tri.

We missed Weston so much today. Busio has some skill obviously, but he’s not ready for road Concacaf games.

He has the highest completed dribble percentage of anyone in the Eredivisie.

Were you able to watch any of the games? USSF fricked this team because they didn’t get their shite together until the last minute, naming a coach less than a week before the tournament started. Other teams took this way more seriously. Plus it’s a youth tourney so… meh

He would rather spend time with his family than travel with the national team.

I'm not ignoring that, but he has also been very wasteful in his, albeit few, opportunities he has gotten under Gregg. Hopefully he is able to come into camp for the Bosnia friendly next month.

Yeah, and I know the circumstances behind it with the the new manager being hired like three days before the tournament. Clark still looked meh. I had hopes a few months ago that maybe he could sneak in this cycle.

I was joking, but there is something more to this that no one is saying and I hope a book comes out. Nagbe alluded to it in his podcast interview with either Benny/Sal or Gooch/DMB. Can't remember which one, but something happened beyond the whole "national team burnout".

He’s barely gotten any time but in that friendly against Jamaica and the WCQ he played in I thought he looked good. Scuffed agrees too. Not sure what you saw that appeared wasteful to you.
