Just want to say again we absolutely sh!thoused that team in the second half. The entire run of play was Mexico’s half of the field. It was Cortez in the Valley or Mexico levels of domination in the second half.

We’ve all been waiting to see a game where the whole is greater than the sum of our very talented parts and we saw it last night. Can’t wait to see what type of energy/response this young team can deliver in a still important game in Jamaica (and credit to Panama for continuing to get results and keeping the top 4 close).

I live a couple hours south so could possibly make it to the game. Pretty sure Montreal has an indoor stadium

It’s worth mentioning that I saw a significant amount of Hispanic fans wearing red, white, and blue. Far more than I’ve seen in the previous USA/Mexico home qualifiers. Now I don’t want to assume they were all Mexican, but many of them certainly were. I’m hoping this will continue to be a growing trend and that we will see more Mexican-Americans opt to play for the US over El Tri.

He was atrocious in the Honduras game. Had no business being on the field.

Twellman made a good point that last Friday is likely the last true "home" match for the USMNT against Mexico for 7 years.

We won't have World Cup qualifiers for the 2026 cycle and anytime we play Mexico in a Gold Cup/Nations League/Friendly, it will be in a stadium where there is more Mexicans than Americans.

What will CONCACAF qualifying look like in 4 years with the U.S, Mexico and Canada all getting a free pass?

Nobody knows.

It will also be the first year with the 48 team World Cup so it all depends on how many extra teams CONCACAF gets in the field.

You are going to have some really shitty games with 48 countries qualifying.

Yup and a lot of meaningless games too with there only being groups of three.

Between that expansion and the likelihood that the World Cup moves to every other year, FIFA is really bastardizing a great product just so they can get their scummy hands on every last dollar.

My biggest gripe is that you only get two guaranteed games as the groups are 3 rather than 4 teams.

At this point I would rather they do the regular World Cup and have the Europa league tier World Cup every four years for teams like Guatemala and El Salvador that might otherwise never play in an international tournament.

Nevermind the massive advantage 2 of the teams will have in each group of being the last match. So much frickery will happen. Several groups will end with ridiculous 0-0 draws like in the olden days before the same start time rule

This makes too much sense. Which means FIFA hates it.

The ratings for the World Cups are going to go down so much with this watered down product, post 2022.

People will mostly tune out the first round games and only watch the elimination games.

Having bi-annual World Cups will throw off the Euros obviously as they will be in an odd year. Not the end of the world but there will be viewer fatigue with essentially major tournaments every summer (especially if CONMEBOL wisely uses a different year than the Euro).

Ratings may be down a tad next year as well since it is November-December instead of June-July.

it’s truly amazing how the owners/administrators of sports in general go out of their way to ruin perfection. I’ll follow the boys wherever they go, but I’ll lose 90% of my interest if it’s bi annual. what’s the fricking point

It's all a mess and you're going to see a lot more "B teams" or U-23 teams play in the nations league and/or continental tournaments.
