I get that. I don't understand seeding at all. Like why did Man U play West Ham in the Ro32 of Carabao while Preston played Cheltenham.

In this instance there is no seeding

It’s an open draw

Top flight clubs just enter the competition later on

The management of Portugal is so poor and it’s mind blowing when you see their starting lineup on paper

Portugal’s goal in that game was off of a foul on a defender so I think it evens out.

Just seems like you would want to see the best teams play each other latter. That should have been a match in the quarters.

No that’s just the Americanization of sports

Open draw is the most pure way of competition and leads to more upsets and gives small clubs the chances to go farther when the big boys knock each other out early on

I’ll take Wales, Sweden, and Italy out of those groups. Ukraine a dark horse, if they haven’t been invaded by then.

If we had that for the NCAA tournament or the high school football playoffs people would think it was stupid

They already use elements of seeding, such as pot 1, pot 2, etc. and having the Premier League teams start later in the FA Cup

Which was already discussed

They don’t seed how American sports do
