Can you imagine this?

'Pool is up 1-0 over City and Yaya Toure challenges Lucas Leiva. Lucas better flail around and be taken off injured for the rest of the match if he knows whats good for him. Makes Yaya sit too.

Its almost like they are trying to come up with the exact rules that will make the game worse.....

sounds about as reasonable as an Automatic unreversable 15 yard penalty and the player is ejected from the game.

Thats stupid. Whats next if you injure someone then you can't play until they are match fit?

This would make perfect sense...if they could know who is actually hurt and who is Pulling a Dzeko just to get the opposing star player off the pitch.

And you would think someone who has been a referee would actually understand that....

They need to make some rules that would give the referee the ability to send a player off that makes a dangerous play that could/does result in an injury to an opposing player.

These guys are just getting out of hand being allowed to run amok all over the pitch unbridled.

you may be on to something. they should probably have different levels, one of smaller things and one for larger things. maybe if the smaller things add up to one of the larger things, it's time to go.

who knows though, i'm just thinking out loud.

In all seriousness,

The NHL actually does this to an extent. If a high stick or similar penalty results in blood being drawn then the offender is sent to the box with a double minor (4 minutes instead of 2). This isn't a written rule, but there is a precedent that it almost always occurs.

Also, suspensions are given out after the game for plays made that result in injury that are terms illegal even if they weren't called a penalty on the ice. These suspensions are sometimes given based on the length of time that the injured player is out.

These seem pretty fair, but NHL players don't miss shifts because their injured and rarely if ever fake injury. Guys take pucks to the face all the time and never miss a shift.

This isn't meant to be a soccer players are pussies and hockey players are men post, but I don't think that soccer players can be given the benefit of the doubt like NHL players can.

I'm thinking they use colors....like stoplights. One that symbolizes a warning and one that puts a stop to the madness.

I think we are onto something here.

You can use a third-party doctor to verify the condition of an injured player.

Also, I want to hand out a few ex-post-facto bans:

Jonny Evans - 6 months for Holden, 1 month for Drogba

Nigel de Jong - 2 months for Holden, 6 months for Ben Arfa

Ryan Shawcross - 14 months for Ramsey

Kevin-Prince Boateng - 3 months for Ballack (Even though it was a club match, I'll just go ahead and ban him for this World Cup too.)

Phil Bardsley - 3 months for Pienaar

And what about when its just an accident.

Wilshere was out for 3 months after his tackle with Agger and Agger wasn't at fault. Should he be banned or made to sit for that?

Agger went in studs up. Don't make me find the screenshots I posted when it happened.

So? It can be hard to not have studs up in that type of tackle.
Wilshere the other day said it was 70:30 tackle in Aggers favour and that he probably shouldnt have gone for it, but doesnt wan tto lose that part of his game.

So a player admits they go into a challenge they will likely lose gets hurt but its the other guys fault?

I think the term "studs up" is prone to bad use (and I'm not picking on anyone, just in general)

Technically every step a player takes as he runs is "studs up" in some way shape or form. Plenty of perfectly fine and legal challenges are "studs-up". There is a big difference between a studs up dangerous challenge and a normal challenge where the angle and ball movement just happen to create an impact at a studs up angle.
