I think true. She's had a bad two seconds in giving up the penalty kick against Germany.

Other than that, she's been outstanding. Our midfield was almost non-existent defensively for many of the games, allowing a ton of space for counters, and we've rarely been burned. She aggressively challenged and won possession back constantly. Her marking has been excellent. She's delivered some great balls forward.

Basically, the position I was most wondering about heading into the world cup has arguably become our best position.

Who else has had as good of a world cup as she has?
Best three players thus far:

1. JJ
2. Carli Lloyd (some early bad performances made up for in the last few games)
3. Saurebrauner (though I could see some others here)

Obligatory JJ viewing:

She has been the best player in the World Cup period.

I would say true though I agree with the mention of Carli Lloyd since she's been the real difference maker in the knockout rounds.

her or Rapinoe. That girl is so quick and is good on the ball.

While I do not disagree, I feel like Klingenberg has flown under the radar as one of our best players. I'd put her in our top three for this World Cup.

She's been great on defense on has played the ball out of the back better than the three others, notably Krieger. I believe she even had a goal line save to keep us from allowing a second goal in the tournament.

Might not have a game today if it were not for Lloyd but Johnston for me has been the best player in the whole tourney and I'm not even one of her fanboys.

Definitely considered her as my third best. She's been very good.

I like her a lot but she's been similar to Lloyd in that she's great in a couple of matches and disappeared in others. Could be a by product of the expectations of her play too. Lloyd gets the nod because she showed up in the bigger games (though to be fair rapinoe was suspended for one of them)

How nobody has mentioned Morgan Brian is beyond me. She has been a ROCK at the defensive mid spot. Directs traffic, extremely high pass completion %, and has had important tackles and takeaways.

Also, she made that german bitch bleed.

Yeah Brian was great against Germany. She was ho hum in the first game she played for us though, but I think she's settled into her role since then.

She's probably not being mentioned since she's hardly played half the minutes.

However, I agree that she's been excellent and, surprisingly, it's been quite helpful to actually have a defensive mid on the pitch instead of all attacking midfielders scrambling around when the opposition counters.

no need for the question mark.... she has been in the exactly right spot every game....

she did get away from a red card vs. Germany, but even with that factored in, she's been damn near flawless this tourney....

Morgan has AWOL, and Lloyd has had moments, but not consistent....

I agree she's a standout. Deserved a red card against Germany. So her cup should've been over. Carli made headlines, Megan Rapinoe is my personal Mvp. Several players stepped up. Personally, I like JJ
